Did a half a few years ago, unsure of my time but nothing to write home about. I trained about 6 months and then took about 2yrs. off. Started running again this year but have never done anything serious.

Short-Term Running Goals:

keep running, stay fit and healthy, while having fun. Would like to get my mileage up to 25 miles a week and plan some short races when I get confident with my speed.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Get my mileage back up and run pain free!

Today I did my first ever 5K.  I didn't quite know what to expect, but it was good.  Mik'L told me about 15 mins before we ran that it had some fun little hills (I usually avoid hills on purpose).  But in spite of the hills I survived and had a good time.  Would love to have had a better time, (which I'm not even for sure what it was, but somewhere around there?) but I figure that for a place to start it will do. It was just fun to run with family and friends and have a good time!   I think I'll try Wed. and do another 5K hopefully a little flatter and faster!

From Clyde's description and finish time, this was a beast of a course for a 5 K. Hills and elevation do not mix well, the result is slow times. So 29:30 there is probably worth about 27:30 on a flat course.

Good Job Michelle! I think that's a great time for a 1st 5k, esp. if you take what Sasha said into consideration. I remember my first 5k I just wanted to finish under 1/2 hr. You'll probably fly on a flat course! The important part is that you had a good time! I'm probably doing the LaVerkin 5k Wed. I just feel silly because I'll be going alone...

Wooooo Hooooo! That was a great job for your first 5K! 29 minutes and that on a tough course. I'm impressed.

Just curious, did you ever question why you ever even decided to start running at all during the race? I had that thought cross my mind more than once in my first 5K.
