Did a half a few years ago, unsure of my time but nothing to write home about. I trained about 6 months and then took about 2yrs. off. Started running again this year but have never done anything serious.

Short-Term Running Goals:

keep running, stay fit and healthy, while having fun. Would like to get my mileage up to 25 miles a week and plan some short races when I get confident with my speed.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Get my mileage back up and run pain free!

Well I got up and did the 5K this morning, it went kinda like this... I got down to the park around 6:55 to register and then visited with a few people thinking that it started at 8:00 a.m. which it really started at 7:30... so at 20 mins after made a quick run around the block in time to line up.  Started out the race with a friend from work who I know runs faster than me. Thinking that if I started with her I could stay with her, since in the 5K on Saturday she was just a little faster than me... but that didn't last too long and she pulled away when we got to the aprox. mile long hill.  It wasn't terribly steep, just steedy climb, Yuck!  Then about .5 mile of slight down and then back up, with about 1 mile steedy drop to the finish.  Then once again didn't hear my time when I finished and they weren't posting them just then, so I decided to hurry home to shower and get ready to come back for the parade.  I thought I would see my time then.  Well when I got back to the park an hour later no times posted anywhere!  My Ipod showed a time of  00:26:40, but it was off on the distance so I'm not sure if I can go with the time, but since it's all I've got that's what I'm sticking with for now.  Maybe tomorrow I can calll down to the city and see if they have the times.  As for the run, it was o.k. I don't know what is up with these courses, why they can't find courses that are more flat?  Maybe that's the purpose to challenge us and find out what we're really made of!  Maybe I need to run hills more frequently?  This run seemed harder than the 5K I ran on Sat. even though the hills were much steeper, this on seemed to go on longer.  But overall pretty good.   Happy fourth to all!  (Currently I am in the E.R. seeing all the crazy things people do to celebrate and find entertainment on this fun day!)

Good job Michelle! That is a great time, especially if the course was harder than last week! I think you need to sign up for Hobblecreek with us!

Wow Michelle! Great time! I thought you might be a little worn out from racing just, what was it, 4 days ago--apparently NOT! Congrats.

Michelle- that is a great time on your 5K! I shouldn't have been so hard on myself for my time. I'm so impressed you ran a 5k, then went to work that night, then ran again after work- amazing! Hope you are catching up on your sleep! By the way, where was this Liberty Fun Run? Richfield?

Hum, maybe you skip the half marathon, since you take two years off, and go for the marathon, just kidding, sounds like a very good effort for the race on a hot day. Good luck on you goals.
