I got off work this morning and it felt so nice outside with the fresh smell of rain in the air even though I was tired I couldn't resist.  My legs were still a little sore from Martins Cove and since I was tired I didn't know what I had in me but off I went.  Started off and felt really good, about half way in my calves started to tighten up but other than that a great run considering being up almost 24hrs.  I probably could have gone longer but I went in a random route around the neighborhood and didn't really know my distance but when I went by my house I somehow slipped in to go to bed.  So glad I got done and didn't have to face my treadmill in the afternoon!  ( Thinking about doing a 5 mile run in Monroe in the morning, but it will be after another night shift so if I do it will be purely for the days run not to race, but we'll see, it's only 10:40 p.m. now and my bed is calling.  I'm gonna need to catch a second, third or fourth wind by then)

When I got off work I decided to go to the race in monroe. I rode over with a friend, and by the time we both got changed and ready it didn't leave time to warm up. But the race was getting started late that left us standing around waiting and getting verrrrryyyy sleepy not moving. I had decided that this was indeed not a race for me, due to 2 nights of night shifts, and still having sore calves from Martins Cove. Just motivation to get a run in in the a.m. so I didn't have to do it later and think about it all day. When we finally got started I was determined to start slow and steady or I new that I would be out of steam for the last mile or so since I have never done more than 3.5 after no sleep. I don't know what my mile times were, but my pace felt good, not to fast, but not getting left clear behind. I was surprised that it didn't feel more difficult than it did and things were going good. The last two miles a very annoying guy played leap frog with me the rest of the race. He would stop and walk and then run passed me, then stop and walk till I got about 20 feet ahead and do it again. When we turned the corner to the finish line he ran ahead and came in just before me (AGGHH!) I did have a little reserve to speed up but not quite enough! All in all it was probabley my favorite race of the summer. I liked the course a few small hills but mostly pretty even and a good route. I'm glad I got out in the morning and now I can relax for the rest of the day! (I asked at the end if it was exactly 5 miles and they said it was only 4.8)

Didn't get out till after eight this am. Warmer today than yesterday and much more humid. My legs felt so stiff. Like the tin man effect I'm sure. It took a minute to make sure they were actually bending. Left calf is still so sore. I wanted to run it out a bit, but not add to the problem. I think I am also still behind on my sleep. I usually really feel it a day or two later when I don't get adequte sleep after a couple of nights. But glad I did get out.

Another nice morning a little cooler than yesterday. Still pretty sore in the calves. ( I don't know why this is hanging on so long!) So thought I would just get out there and loosen things up.

Spending the weekend in Lyman again. Love to run over here and mix things up from my regular runs at home.

Another great run in Lyman! Felt a little tired and slow. This could be due to getting to bed too late with many interuptions, lots of extended family spending the night most of them under the age 13 makes for a short/long night! Great scenery makes the distance go by easily even when your tired! Looking forward to some kinda nap today (I Hope! )
