I was only half comitted to running this a.m. Set the alarm and if I felt good decided I'd go. My husband and two youngest girls left for the weekend last night. I am going to catch up to them today. So I got to bed quite late (teenage daughter at home) at 6:00 a.m. middle childs alarm clock goes off loudly...arggg! go shut it off ( I think) back to bed. Ten minutes later daughters alarm goes off again, go push lots of buttons and hope for the best, go back to bed. Lay down and decided to check other daughters alarm clock, doesn't appear to be set, go back to bed. Just fall to sleep, my alarm goes off....decide I am too tired turn it off (I know how to run my own alarm) try to go to sleep. Just start to doze again youngest daughters alarm goes of, not terribly loud, cover my head with pillow, after a few minutes of that, decide that I'm suffocating and can't breath, I could be doing the same thing and getting some exercise at the same time... give in and go running!!!! Happy long weekkend!!!!!

Spent the weekend in Lyman and so I ran over there today. Got up later than I should have ( I always think that it is going to much cooler than it is at home, never is) But in spite of the warmer, late start, a pretty good run. The last 2 miles seemed hard and I wanted to be done, but there was only one way back and so I stuck it out. Was rewarded at about the last mile found the only sprinkler of the day and it was a soaker! :)

Last week only had one real day of hip pain, today none also, maybe the battle of wills is currently in my favor!!!

Got up this morning at 6:00 a.m. and got out for my run. The run felt really good, I think the diffrence was how nice and cool it is at 6:00 as compared to 8 or 9. I didn't have a lot of time though, so things got cut a little short.

A wimpy 2.25 miles this morning.  I worked and went home and went out to run.  I had forgotten because of the holiday weekend that my schedual was off and didn't realize Tues. that I had to work untill 4:30 in the afternoon, so I got up at 5:45 in the A.M. and didn't take a little nap or anything before going to work.  Work was exceptionally busy, felt like I ran all night!  So by the time I got home I wan't even walking and talking at the same time all that well.  Decided to give it a go anyway... it was actually pretty good, but due to a time crunch and the fact that I hadn't done irrevesable damage falling or anything else painful, decided to call it a day and get the kids out the door so I could take advantage of the peace and quiet and SLEEP!!!

Wasn't even gonna go out at all today, but McCall wanted to take Clydes advice and run barefoot in the grass. So we went to the ball fields behind our house and made a lot of big loops in the grass then played follow the leader all over the fileds. It was actually pretty fun!! I thought I would just have us run around untill we had done a mile or mile and a half and then go home, but after we got down there and took our shoes off to start running my Nike Ipod quit working..... It took me a minute to realize that I was missing the sensor that attaches to my shoe. So we just guessed on the distance. But I bet it was pretty close maybe more. I felt like I better do something today with Lybi mentioning a BIG GOOSE EGG yesterday made me a bit self conscious!! (just kidding)

The discussion on running barefoot earlier mentioned that it makes you more light on your feet, however I didn't feel any too light on my feet running through the grass, but it did feel like when I was a little kid running the neighborhood in the summer and never being able to find my shoes... Just as fun with my little one too!! We'll definately do that again, fun to see her get excitted about the idea of running!!!

Had my husband drop me off on the way to work, I should have gone a little farther, but we have to go to SLC this morning. And there is something kinda intimidating about riding in the car it always seems so much farther to me than after I've ran it and then drive it.... oh well, my mind has played worse tricks before!!! Well when we left I put on shorts, and lets just say heat was not ever a factor today!!!!! I was cold when I climbed out of the car. Even after getting warmed up on the run, sitting here at home now I'm a little bit chilled!!!!! So enjoy that heat all you guys down there in the SUN!! It really felt pretty good but I was glad to have the sun come up over the hill. Well off to the BIG CITY, Happy Friday :) :)

Went to SLC on Friday, and spent the night at my sister-in-laws in West Jordan.  I took my running stuff and decided that if I was really feeling ambitious I would go for a run.  Set my alarm, got up to go and realized I left my shoes at home....uhhggg!!  I was really mad because I would have loved to sleep in.  I did have another pair of sneakers, difinatley not running shoes, but decided I was up and would give it a try.  Not to bad, but the shoes are really different from my running ones and for the first 2 miles I felt like my legs were just not in control, it was weird.  Kinda fun to run in the city I saw runners all over the place, as I ran down a busy road by Day Break.  As I passed them I wondered if any were bloggers?  It's always fun to run in a different place and see knew scenery it is nice and distracting!!!  I ran up passed where my sister-in-law thinks is going to be the new temple at Day Break.  If that is the case it has a beautiful view of the valley around it.  I kinda had a rough week getting in my miles, and it's Sunday night now and my calves are still really sore, they have been a lot latley, but I think the change in running shoes must have added to that, so I'm hoping to get a better week this week, we'll see I guess!

Today when I got off from work I went straight to bed, so that meant that I had to run when I got up, before I went back to work.  The temps. weren't to bad around 1:30 when I headed out, and for the first 2 miles everything was feeling good!  The last mile the sun came out from behind a cloud and things seemed to heat up, but I don't dare complain about that too much!  No signifigant hip pain today or really last week, just small grublings here and there.  Calves got tight again at about 2 miles and feel sore now, I decided when I got back home that I would call and get an apt. for a massage...(Gasp!)   I feel a little selfish doing this, but am justifying it with the fact that I have been reaching and going over my mileage goal all of Aug. 1 week in July and off to a good start this month!  I'm hoping that I can loosen up those tight calves and then hit a long run later this week!

Head out after work this morning, only 50 degrees out this a.m. I read (I think on Laura's blog) yesterday that that is the perfect running temp. and I think that I agree! Felt great but any cooler and I would have had to put on a long sleeve shirt. Saw scouts putting out flags in the neighborhood yards and it made me so greatful for the great country that we live in and for the many brave people willing to defend it!!!!

Well as soon as the kids are out the door, I am gonna have myself a little snooze, then head off for that massage, and right now I'm not feeling any guilt!!!!!

Went out with my friend and her daughter who rode tandem bikes while I ran. Was hoping to have them push my pace a little, but I think that I just slowed thiers. They stopped about half way to have breakfast at the bakery, and I kept going to add on a little more. Was hoping to do 6 today, but time contraints didn't allow. Left calf still sore, I think that I was expecting my massage to fix everything, but I think that is a little to much to expect, I think it would require a couple of repeats frequently. It did feel great! But I didn't wake up with the body of 25 yr old, ( darn ).

I didn't get out this morning inspite of a planned longer run today... and then when I went to go tonight McCall decided she wanted to go, which cut me short also. So she and I went and did a mile at the softball fields with a few stops and then I was going to do a few more miles on my own, like at least 3. When I headed out it was completely dark, and I cut it to 2 miles. I don't know why I feel more comfortable in the morning in the dark, but tonight it seemed a little more dark or something. So a total of 3 for the day, hopefully make up for it tomorrow!

It took up a good portion of my running energy to just get out the door today! And I really don't know why? But once I got out, I was feeling pretty good. I was doing my 8 mile loop backwards for the first time and wasn't sure how it would turn out. At three miles so good so far, five miles doing fine. 6 miles the wheels start to come off. I don't know what happened from here on out but I can honestly say I can't remember a run that was as hard as the last 2 miles of this one. My hip began to really hurt ( which I thought that I had more or less kicked this problem) and I just felt like every step took all my effort. I managed to limp on into home without stopping, but my pace was barely a crawl. I don't know if it's been that I have slacked a little on my runs the last two weeks or what, but definatley not a great run. Gotta get out and redeem myself tomorrow!

one easy mile with McCall for a warm up, and then 2 .5 on my own. After yesterdays run and my hip hurting all day I was a little hesitant about getting out on it and considered calling it good for the weekend. When I got out of bed, it was still giving me alot of problems. But I decided to do some easy warm up with McCall and see how it went. The first few steps really were painful, but after that it seemed to ease up. So I decided to do a few on my own. I'm glad I did, it seems to have loosened things up, and it actually feels a little better!

When I got off work this morning I wasn't terrinbly tired and it was nice and cool, but I somehow ended up going to bed instead of out for a run, BIG MISTAKE!!!!  When I got up I had to pay the piper!  I did 3 miles on the DREADmill and it was painful!!  I thought I would surely die before I finished and then I would get away with only 1-2 miles and get off easy. neadless to say I lived to tell about it and it was torture, I think I do this about once a month to remind myself why I don't run on the treadmill more often!

Got out this morning while it was nice and cool, about 50 degrees! SOOOOO much better than on the treadmill. Nice run, a little grumbling from the hip the last 2 miles but other than that really good. We have an ATV jamboree here in town for a week every year this time of year, so it was me and the ATV's out in force around town today. As I was finishing up the run, they were headed out on one of the tours that leaves near my house. I know that there are a lot in town but as I was going down the road they were coming in the opposite direction. They kept coming and coming and then more and more.... when that group finished a smaller but not few by any means went the other way, the same direction I was heading. I know this gets bigger every year, but I just couldn't believe there were so many! They let them take over the town, ride main street, sometimes more ATV's than cars there. And everywhere else in town. Last night at work I took care of a couple that drove from Wisconsin to ride. CRAZY! Well enough about that! Off to the Big City for a meeting, have to drive four hours for a two hour meeting (Hmmmm!) That's what I get for living in the country I guess!

Ran I mile with McCall this evening on the grass at the ball park, she did great tonight 10:35 pace and no stops tonight!

Nice easy run this morning, it was really cool when I normally head out so I waited about a half hour to fourty-five minutes, maybe it wasn't as cool as I thought or the sun heated things up nicely, but got warm fast. Hip started to hurt at the end again, but did take ibuprofen before and as soon as I stopped so did the pain. I think I'll take that through out the day and see if that will settled things down. Overall good run, average pace 9:38

One mile tonight with Callzee, pretty fun to see her endurance increase and her desire to set goals! She'll be faster than me before long I'm afraid.

Didn't much feel like getting out today, kinda have suffered with that all week. But once I got going, about 2.5 miles in I told myself just to relax and just go with it, it seemed to feel better. I took 2 ASA by mistake this morning, thought I was grabbing ibuprofen to ease the hip pain before I went out and I think it worked pretty well. That might be a start of something. I'm not sure why I haven't been motivated to do any long runs or getting out? I have been doing a mile each evening with my daughter, I don't think that should be zapping my energy in the morning, it's always a real relaxed run and so fun, but maybe it is? If so then I guess it is good for me and will eventually help build up more endurance and energy over the long run. Well were almost officially into the weekend so that's cause for a great day!

I told myself that if I got out right when the kids left for school, I was sure my run would go better than the last couple of days. I was right!!! Probably the best run for the week. Felt good almost all of the run. The one hard part with a good hill that's at the golf course, a cute little older man in a decked out golf suit and clubs saw me coming and walked back into the road and acted like he was timing me! ( Good thing he didn't really have a stop watch, it would have been pathetic up that hill). but he was a nice distraction! I also did a few fartleks? They were not too impressive, but about 5 of them that seemed to break things up too! All in all a good run. I didn't run with McCall last night so I'm not sure if that is one of the reasons that I felt a little more spunky? But if that's the case I will just have to buff up and still do both. Those nice relaxed miles with her are fun and I'm not willing to give them up. Ohhh and I took one asprin, one ibuprofen today and not even a squeek of hip pain. Maybe that has to do with no evening run last night too? Well it's finally Friday! By far my favorite day of the week!!!! YEA!!!

Not such a good running day, but so far my only goal was to get out and mission was accomplished! Callzee and I ran an easy 1.5 together and then I did a LITTLE more on my own. Because I was quite crunched for time tonight! I must say I did feel better after I got out and ran even if it was just a bit. I woke up feeling kinda grumpy and not sure I wasn't coming down with some kinda stomach yuck, but I'm feeling a lot better now! It was almost cold tonight. My hands and arms were borderline numb by the time we were done! Even though it's not my best workout of the week running with a ten year old adds quite a new perspective. She notices everthing and is soooo positive. We talked about the beautiful moon and how believing you can do something is all that matters! She is the sweetest kid!

I have a crazy schedual this week, so my only goal is to get my legs moving everyday this week, no set distance! I have a confrence in SLC that I have to go to later in the week that is really gonna mess with things but I'll do my best!

I did .85 with McCall and then the rest by myself. She seemed to struggle a little tonight, but I think she was a little distracted. I didn't have a lot of time either, so kinda another wimpy day. Tomorrow is likely my only real good day for much of a run so I hope to capitalize on that and make it count. I did survive the field trip to Provo today, It was touch and go a few times, but it all ended well. What can you expect from a bus full of 5th graders and a total ride of 4.5 hours. (I'd like to think I could run a marathon in that amount of time it I had been training.) I also started out the day with a nice healthy breakfast thanks to Sasha's advice (Raw oats, fresh sliced peaches and milk) I'm sure that helped! Thanks Sasha, your advice is always valuble.

I went out a little later today because I refuse to bundle up yet if I don't have too. By ten it was shorts and t-shirt weather so that was good around 58 degrees, actually about perfect. I was going for 6 miles but when I went passed my house and saw that my husband had came home from hunting I went home to say hi! O well I'll run with Callzee tonight and get it up to 6 or maybe more. I was supposed to make today count as I am leaving at 5 in the morning to SLC to a nursing confrence untill Sat. I have to be up at 4 am. The entire reason I work nights is becasue I never want to see an alarm clock that says 4 am! So much for that!!! I guess once in a few years I can handle it? I'm hoping to find time to run at the hotel, but we are staying down town and the Gateway is within walking distance.... I may have to put on my running clothes jet down and speed shop through the stores and call that running!!! Yep, I think that I'm on to something. I'll let you know how that goes!!! Who knows I may even have some all time high milleage for the week.

Added 1.3 to make 6 for the day, off to the city tomorrow and hope t get some running in!

2 miles on the treadmill in the hotel at 9:45 at night after getting up at 4:00 a.m. and just getting back from Olive garden and comsuming entirely too many calories. Inspite of the obvious, not to bad. Would of done more, but tired and big day ahead, sleep was my priority!

four miles on the hotel treadmill at 6:00 a.m. felt like I had just left there...oh wait, that was just last night!!! Not bad for the treadmill. Had wanted to run around the temple and the surrounding area, but wasn't sure if it would be safe in the dark??? To bad, but it sure would have made a great run!!!

Three on the hotel treadmill. Not a record week, but glad that I got some runs in, which was the goal for the week. I have eaten terrible at these meetings and have decided to clean up my diet. No more treats till.....well I haven't decided the specifics. I think I'll commit to whatever tomorrow when my head is a little clearer, and I'm not under the influence of sooo much junk in the gut!! It won't be anything like no sugar or white flour, but it will be a good step for me and definately one in the right direction!
