I knew that today I would have to run in the evening, since I worked last night and I couldn't find the strengh to go this morning after work. Can't say that it was one of my best runs just felt kinda hard. The first mile was good, the second uphill ( according to my standards, with a head wind) the third more flat and down hill felt pretty good, the last mile felt a little like running in sand, like I couldn't really get going anywhere. Now that I'm home I feel great. I hate that it always happens that way, hard run and then get home and think, "what was the problem should have gone two more!" Oh well there's always tomorrow!

Just a short run this morning so I can hopefully be really energetic tomorrow for the 5K.

Race: LIberty Fun Run 5k (3.1 Miles) 00:26:45

Well I got up and did the 5K this morning, it went kinda like this... I got down to the park around 6:55 to register and then visited with a few people thinking that it started at 8:00 a.m. which it really started at 7:30... so at 20 mins after made a quick run around the block in time to line up.  Started out the race with a friend from work who I know runs faster than me. Thinking that if I started with her I could stay with her, since in the 5K on Saturday she was just a little faster than me... but that didn't last too long and she pulled away when we got to the aprox. mile long hill.  It wasn't terribly steep, just steedy climb, Yuck!  Then about .5 mile of slight down and then back up, with about 1 mile steedy drop to the finish.  Then once again didn't hear my time when I finished and they weren't posting them just then, so I decided to hurry home to shower and get ready to come back for the parade.  I thought I would see my time then.  Well when I got back to the park an hour later no times posted anywhere!  My Ipod showed a time of  00:26:40, but it was off on the distance so I'm not sure if I can go with the time, but since it's all I've got that's what I'm sticking with for now.  Maybe tomorrow I can calll down to the city and see if they have the times.  As for the run, it was o.k. I don't know what is up with these courses, why they can't find courses that are more flat?  Maybe that's the purpose to challenge us and find out what we're really made of!  Maybe I need to run hills more frequently?  This run seemed harder than the 5K I ran on Sat. even though the hills were much steeper, this on seemed to go on longer.  But overall pretty good.   Happy fourth to all!  (Currently I am in the E.R. seeing all the crazy things people do to celebrate and find entertainment on this fun day!)

I decided to run this morning after work, because I knew I would have a hard time getting out tonight. So as I was headed to the track to re-calibrate my Ipod and looked into the glare of the sun it seemed all too familiar. Then I realized I was headed for the 5K 24hrs earlier looking into the same morning glare. Thats when I realized maybe running again before going to bed was ummm....crazy! Legs felt a little stiff for the first mile and then seemed to loosen up. Not really much distance today, maybe if not too dead tonight I'll sneek in another mile or two. Good night all!

Ran today in Lyman. Was able to sleep in a little bit, and it was still fairly cool outside. I also got to do a new route which is a little refreshing! The run felt really good and was longer than I've done in over a week due to the 5K's, I need to work on building up my mileage again. Might prove difficult since we will be out of town off/on the next two-three weeks. Could take some disipline!

Ran in Lyman again today! Another new route! Fun to just run dowm those long counrty roads ( as long as you can get in 4.5 miles. seems long in my little world) Hip was up to it's old tricks again, iced it a little when I got home. Helped some. At least I didn't feel it too much till I got home.

four miles today that seemed really hard. Got up a little later that I should have, so it was a little warmer than it normally would have been, but not so much that I think I should have noticed. Maybe it's just Monday? My hip is sssttiiilll bothering me. It felt better this a.m. after taking Sunday off, and taking ibuprofen but it's right back as soon as I'm done running. It actually feels o.k. when I'm running, it's afterward when it hurts. A lot more when I try to walk.

Last night at work I had one of the doc's inject my hip. He thinks I'll be miraculously cured. So I'm hoping he's right. He also thought that this morning would be too soon to know though. I decided to go do a small run just to feel how things felt. So far not too bad. It's a little sore at the injection site, but then having only done 2 miles who knows since it ususlly only gets going after about 3.5. But I'm really hoping! In addition to yesterdays run feeling hard my minimal little run today felt pretty yuck too, so need to kick it in a little harder and get past this. Hopefully I'm a new me tomorrow!

We were in Cedar City for a for a few days so I ran around the town a little bit, not really knowing were I was going. I do know that the town is on a hill so it's either run up and then back down or down and then back up. I chose to do up first, it turned into a pretty good run, hip actually felt great! (Yea!)

Cedar City again took a different route today, I realized half way thru my run that all the older neighborhoods all have big trees that line the streets so I was running in shade for about 80% of the time. It felt soooo nice!

Cedar City again, woke up late and I was feeling a little lazy so not to much for mileage today, maybe if it cools off tonight I'll do a couple more!

Slept in untill 8:45 to late to get out and do much before it was feeling pretty warm. Should have done more but a little behind at home yada, yada, yada! Need to have a high mileage week, but not looking to good for next week either. Wed. leave early for Martins Cove. I know Thurs. we walk 7 miles and Friday 9 miles. Can I count that or is it cheating?

When I got off work this A.M. driving home the temp. outside was 69 degrees. I knew I should go out and do a couple of miles, but I was just too tired! I knew I would regret it later, and I was right. So when I got up around 12:30 I worked on a few skirts for the trek and then decided no time like the present and headed for the treadmill ( Yes, you heard correctly the treadmill ) I knew I wouldn't get around to it later so that was the only alternative. I did 2 miles and then stopped and stetched for a minute and then 1 mile stopped and stretched again and then 1 more mile for a total of 4. I don't know why the treadmill is so mentally tough for me. The stretching was more of a mental rest than physical just to get through. But now I am off to make bonnets! Maybe the treadmill wasn't so bad, I am not much of a seamstress and the fits and fights that I sometimes get into with the sewing machine can rival any well meant two yearolds tantrum, only I can't send it for a timeout because in the end I am at it's mercy! Wish me luck! I think actually pulling the handcarts will be like cake compared to the 6 skirts and 3 bonnets I'm somehow trying to produce :)

When I got up this morning even though I slept in a little late, (I had told myself that I would get up early and run when it was cool, but at 1:00 a.m. when I went to bed last night I changed my mind) so I got up and went out about 8:30. It still felt pretty cool and was a little overcast so I thought I should get a longer run in. I haven't had anything over 4-5 miles in almost a month. It actually felt really good. I found little sprinklers along the way and then about mile four I was on a new road they are paving and I ran past a water truck that was spraying the road and it really got me wet! It felt oh so nice and I think thats why I convinced myself to do a few extra miles (Yea!) Well off to make one more skirt, I ran into a friend in Walmart yesterday trying to figure out what she needed to make her skirts for the trek and I realized her sewing skills might be worse off than mine ( If that could be possible?) so one more to go :)

Walked seven miles around Martins Cove.  It was a little warm but we had a good time.  Except for the womens pull, I really got my work out for the day there.  They picked the sandiest steepest hill they could find!  It was brutal, I got to do that twice!

Today we walked 9 miles.  The first 4.5 felt like no big deal!  We stopped and rested, listened to some speakers and then we were off!  4.5 back should be easy enough right!  Wrong!  Three very large and  somewhat sandy hills later 3 mud bogs and 3 river crossings( That was the fun part at the end) we finally made it back.  I was worn out!

I got off work this morning and it felt so nice outside with the fresh smell of rain in the air even though I was tired I couldn't resist.  My legs were still a little sore from Martins Cove and since I was tired I didn't know what I had in me but off I went.  Started off and felt really good, about half way in my calves started to tighten up but other than that a great run considering being up almost 24hrs.  I probably could have gone longer but I went in a random route around the neighborhood and didn't really know my distance but when I went by my house I somehow slipped in to go to bed.  So glad I got done and didn't have to face my treadmill in the afternoon!  ( Thinking about doing a 5 mile run in Monroe in the morning, but it will be after another night shift so if I do it will be purely for the days run not to race, but we'll see, it's only 10:40 p.m. now and my bed is calling.  I'm gonna need to catch a second, third or fourth wind by then)

When I got off work I decided to go to the race in monroe. I rode over with a friend, and by the time we both got changed and ready it didn't leave time to warm up. But the race was getting started late that left us standing around waiting and getting verrrrryyyy sleepy not moving. I had decided that this was indeed not a race for me, due to 2 nights of night shifts, and still having sore calves from Martins Cove. Just motivation to get a run in in the a.m. so I didn't have to do it later and think about it all day. When we finally got started I was determined to start slow and steady or I new that I would be out of steam for the last mile or so since I have never done more than 3.5 after no sleep. I don't know what my mile times were, but my pace felt good, not to fast, but not getting left clear behind. I was surprised that it didn't feel more difficult than it did and things were going good. The last two miles a very annoying guy played leap frog with me the rest of the race. He would stop and walk and then run passed me, then stop and walk till I got about 20 feet ahead and do it again. When we turned the corner to the finish line he ran ahead and came in just before me (AGGHH!) I did have a little reserve to speed up but not quite enough! All in all it was probabley my favorite race of the summer. I liked the course a few small hills but mostly pretty even and a good route. I'm glad I got out in the morning and now I can relax for the rest of the day! (I asked at the end if it was exactly 5 miles and they said it was only 4.8)

Didn't get out till after eight this am. Warmer today than yesterday and much more humid. My legs felt so stiff. Like the tin man effect I'm sure. It took a minute to make sure they were actually bending. Left calf is still so sore. I wanted to run it out a bit, but not add to the problem. I think I am also still behind on my sleep. I usually really feel it a day or two later when I don't get adequte sleep after a couple of nights. But glad I did get out.

Another nice morning a little cooler than yesterday. Still pretty sore in the calves. ( I don't know why this is hanging on so long!) So thought I would just get out there and loosen things up.

Another great run in Lyman! Felt a little tired and slow. This could be due to getting to bed too late with many interuptions, lots of extended family spending the night most of them under the age 13 makes for a short/long night! Great scenery makes the distance go by easily even when your tired! Looking forward to some kinda nap today (I Hope! )

Ran on the hotel treadmill today. I love the way it feels to run at sea level, even on a treadmill it seems easy! tons of walking later in the day while seeing the sights of Seattle.
