Ran three miles? this morning early with my husband. He's faster than I am but because I am in a little better shape I think he really had to work to make it look like he was just a few paces ahead of me. But it also pushed me too, which is good. I don't have anything to record my speed and distance right now, but should have that all in place later this week. When I run alone I have set distances that I usually do but since my husband was along and I didn't do my usual route, I'm just averaging my didstance and no time today either. After following people on the blog the last couple of weeks, I finally have gotten the courage to give it a go. I have been really inspired by so many of you and hope by keeping track of my own runs that I will be able to see improvement and progress,so here goes!

| Got up to run today and it was overcast and a little cool. Wasn't much in the mood to get out there but after pushing through, I'm really glad I did. I did a four mile loop that I normally don't love but it felt really great and was one of my better runs in the last couple of weeks | |

| Three miles this A.M. I felt like I was hyperventilating most of the run. But I don't think it had anything to do with the run, today is my oldest daughters graduation and there is so much to do today! | |

| Got up and did a little run. My body felt a little like it was in quicksand, but got through it. I'm always surprised even when the running seems so slow and hard, when I get home and start to stretch I feel so good. It makes me feel more alert and less groggy through the day. So it makes it all worth it! | |

| thought I would run down to the track to calibrate my nike-ipod that I finally got ( 1 mile to track). Ran one mile I had't done something right. Did another mile and had another technical error. Ran the third mile, succesful! Ran the mile home, which according to the nike-ipod was only .91 miles. My husband disagree's so I'm counting my mileage as 5 miles. I was only going to do one down do one there and then back so I got a couple of bonus miles and it felt great. Maybe it was the track, or the cool evening we were having but I am glad for the extra. Tomorrow better go back to the track and make sure that my ipod is calculating correctly. | |

| Ran down to the track this morning, did one mile and then home. I'm still not sure if the ipod is calibrated just right probley go down tonight and give it one more try. From there I'll just accept what it says and assume if it's off at least it will be consistant. This morning felt a little tired but o.k. run. |

| 5.87 miles and 2 bugs! Yuck! I got up to do 4 miles this morning and when I was headed home on mile 3 decided to do five and then five almost became 6. Because I didn't have any kind of a course mapped out I ran past my house twice trying to get that last 6th mile in, I slipped in the driveway a little short. But still a pretty good run. I know my first mile was like 8:58, then after that I did't get the specifics. A technical thing I'm not sure if my ipod will do, but my average pace was 10:10 and the total time was 59:43. I sucked in a bug about two minutes into my run and I think he just stuck to the back of my throat the entire time. About on the fouth mile I caught a second one, and that one just kinda slipped down-gross! Sometimes I feel like tigger that just hops down the road, and never really goes anywhere, but now I've taken to catching bugs too......I also have started getting a blister on the inside of my arch. I think I'll try differet socks, but I'm wondering if you get blisters when you start needing new shoes? I think I'm about due. | |

Went for a run this morning after the night shift. Haven't done that a lot, so I didn't know what to expect. I was pretty tired, but after I changed and went out into the cool morning air felt pretty good. My husband and I took off on a new road and then continued down a canal bank. We ended up coming to a fence that we had to climb. Before that everthing felt great! Afterward I think lack of sleep caught up and I got pretty tired. My legs wanted to run but no energy! |

| Ran this morning with my husband again after getting off from work. I felt tired most of the way. Wait a minute I am tired, time for bed! I have always felt like my lungs give out before my legs but today they did for sure! Surely something to do with the time of day I am running that is making it worse. | |

| today due to the hurricane force winds and rain, I took on my treadmill. I even think I did sortof won! I did 2 warm up miles and then on mile 3 I did some alternating hills, mile 4 I tried to do some speed work. That more distance than I've done on my treadmill in months. I won't say that I loved it but I did get it done. | |

| Got up today and it was still pretty cold ousisde, but didn't think the wind was too bad so decided to go any way. Not to bad with a jacket, (it's about 40 F outside). The run was really pretty good. the first 2.4 were great then I headed into the hill section and straigth into the wind that started to really pick up. but all in all my pace was about 10:25. And I feel pretty good with that. I am ready for summer again! I'm sure I will not complain about the heat for at least....2 weeks if it soon warms up! |

| Today we finally made up for the winter spell we've been going through! The sun was out, the temp. was perfect, so I decided to do a long run. It felt really good too! I got a little tired around 5, and then at the end. I really don't think the end I was that tired but just running so randomly to get the miles in I got too close to home and mentally thought I was done. But probabley could have gone at least 8. I did have a little twinge of pain or something towards the end of my run but hopefully nothing to worry about. | |

| Went 3 miles today and I felt like I left my lungs at home. I don't know what the deal was... to soon after dinner? Just plain tired? Hope tomorrow feels better! wanted a couple of good runs today and tomorrow, we are leaving on vacation Wed. and don't if I'll be able to get in anymore. | |

Still a little jetlagged but felt like I needed to get back into the swing of things, so 2 quick miles. Though I feel like I'm packing a few extra pounds, it wasn't too bad. Ready tomorrow to get up and get some miles in this week and start eating better. |

| well I thought today I might as well get back on that horse.... but I never got both feet in the saddle. It was ssssoooo..... hhhaaarrdddd!!!!! I headed for 4 miles, and I'm not one to quit before my goal but I came up a little short. The whole time I was struggling to put one foot in front of the other I realized how important proper eating and consistancy are! It was also a little warmer out there this a.m. than usual but I get no sympathy from most of you on that one, I'm sure it's much cooler here at 9:30 than it is at 6:00 - 7:00 in St. Goerge or AZ. Well theres always tomrrow and I think I'll wear my cowboy boots, maybe that way I can get both feet in the stirupps!!!!!! ( but Clyde I will stay away from the country tunes!) | |

| Even though I decided to forgo the cowboy boots, I think I stayed on and at least had a decent ride! I completed four miles and though I couldn't let it fall in the easy catagory, it at least felt much better in comparison to yesterdays run. I did get out a little earlier and tried to stay really relaxed and just take it easy. I hope it means my body is done punishing me for all the abuse I put it through the last week! Felt good to get in a good run. Hopefully I can get in at least one longer run this week. | |

| Didn't feel much like getting up this morning to run, so I layed in bed debating about going back to sleep and running on the treadmill later or if I should just get up and do it then. I decided that 3 miles on the treadmill would be torture and if I hurried I could do a nice run and be back pretty quick. So I planned a new route in my head and hurried off. I originally planned to do 3-4 miles but after the first 2 I was at the beginning of one of my four mile routes so decided, why not? It felt pretty good too! My right hip stated to hurt again like yesterday, it's not terrible but it's there. It almost feels like that leg is a little longer than the other and so it stretches a little further when my foot comes down... that sounds a little crazy, but any thoughts anyone? I also know that I need new shoes maybe that could be the problem, only problem there is there is no place to buy them here so I'm stuck for a day or two or three.... | |

| Ran to the track this morning, had bribed my girls to get up and go to at least walk... and that's all I could get out of them. So I walked with them a mile and a half. Then I headed out to finish my run. Did another 3.5 for a total of 4.5 running plus the 1.5 or so walking in the middle, but I won't count that. | |

| I worked last night and thought I might get home and run, but I got sucked into my bed in passing. So I planned to run tonight when things cooled off, but realized I had another conflict... so that left me with plan C my treadmill this afternoon. Not my favorite, but got it done. I took a portable DVD player, and watched the beginning of a movie, that held my attention for a while but I only managed to go 3 miles. I had hoped for a better week than I've had so far, but since I've diagnosed myself with a little case of bursitis maybe it's better that I take it easy. Hopefully with ice and ibuprofen it will settle down quickly. I have no patients for such incoveniences!!!! | |

| Waited till this evening to run because I love to sleep in and never get to bed untill late....but anyways went around 9:00 p.m. Not one of the best runs, even though I waited a while after dinner. I think it did't set right! We went to Pepperbelly's and that pretty much says it all. But got through. The hip didn't feel to bad thanks to motrin around the clock. I hope that it's settling the inflammation not just hidding the pain! |

| Today I did my first ever 5K. I didn't quite know what to expect, but it was good. Mik'L told me about 15 mins before we ran that it had some fun little hills (I usually avoid hills on purpose). But in spite of the hills I survived and had a good time. Would love to have had a better time, (which I'm not even for sure what it was, but somewhere around there?) but I figure that for a place to start it will do. It was just fun to run with family and friends and have a good time! I think I'll try Wed. and do another 5K hopefully a little flatter and faster! | |

| I knew that today I would have to run in the evening, since I worked last night and I couldn't find the strengh to go this morning after work. Can't say that it was one of my best runs just felt kinda hard. The first mile was good, the second uphill ( according to my standards, with a head wind) the third more flat and down hill felt pretty good, the last mile felt a little like running in sand, like I couldn't really get going anywhere. Now that I'm home I feel great. I hate that it always happens that way, hard run and then get home and think, "what was the problem should have gone two more!" Oh well there's always tomorrow! |

Well I got up and did the 5K this morning, it went kinda like this... I got down to the park around 6:55 to register and then visited with a few people thinking that it started at 8:00 a.m. which it really started at 7:30... so at 20 mins after made a quick run around the block in time to line up. Started out the race with a friend from work who I know runs faster than me. Thinking that if I started with her I could stay with her, since in the 5K on Saturday she was just a little faster than me... but that didn't last too long and she pulled away when we got to the aprox. mile long hill. It wasn't terribly steep, just steedy climb, Yuck! Then about .5 mile of slight down and then back up, with about 1 mile steedy drop to the finish. Then once again didn't hear my time when I finished and they weren't posting them just then, so I decided to hurry home to shower and get ready to come back for the parade. I thought I would see my time then. Well when I got back to the park an hour later no times posted anywhere! My Ipod showed a time of 00:26:40, but it was off on the distance so I'm not sure if I can go with the time, but since it's all I've got that's what I'm sticking with for now. Maybe tomorrow I can calll down to the city and see if they have the times. As for the run, it was o.k. I don't know what is up with these courses, why they can't find courses that are more flat? Maybe that's the purpose to challenge us and find out what we're really made of! Maybe I need to run hills more frequently? This run seemed harder than the 5K I ran on Sat. even though the hills were much steeper, this on seemed to go on longer. But overall pretty good. Happy fourth to all! (Currently I am in the E.R. seeing all the crazy things people do to celebrate and find entertainment on this fun day!)

| I decided to run this morning after work, because I knew I would have a hard time getting out tonight. So as I was headed to the track to re-calibrate my Ipod and looked into the glare of the sun it seemed all too familiar. Then I realized I was headed for the 5K 24hrs earlier looking into the same morning glare. Thats when I realized maybe running again before going to bed was ummm....crazy! Legs felt a little stiff for the first mile and then seemed to loosen up. Not really much distance today, maybe if not too dead tonight I'll sneek in another mile or two. Good night all! |

| Ran today in Lyman. Was able to sleep in a little bit, and it was still fairly cool outside. I also got to do a new route which is a little refreshing! The run felt really good and was longer than I've done in over a week due to the 5K's, I need to work on building up my mileage again. Might prove difficult since we will be out of town off/on the next two-three weeks. Could take some disipline! |

| Ran in Lyman again today! Another new route! Fun to just run dowm those long counrty roads ( as long as you can get in 4.5 miles. seems long in my little world) Hip was up to it's old tricks again, iced it a little when I got home. Helped some. At least I didn't feel it too much till I got home. | |

| four miles today that seemed really hard. Got up a little later that I should have, so it was a little warmer than it normally would have been, but not so much that I think I should have noticed. Maybe it's just Monday? My hip is sssttiiilll bothering me. It felt better this a.m. after taking Sunday off, and taking ibuprofen but it's right back as soon as I'm done running. It actually feels o.k. when I'm running, it's afterward when it hurts. A lot more when I try to walk. |

| Last night at work I had one of the doc's inject my hip. He thinks I'll be miraculously cured. So I'm hoping he's right. He also thought that this morning would be too soon to know though. I decided to go do a small run just to feel how things felt. So far not too bad. It's a little sore at the injection site, but then having only done 2 miles who knows since it ususlly only gets going after about 3.5. But I'm really hoping! In addition to yesterdays run feeling hard my minimal little run today felt pretty yuck too, so need to kick it in a little harder and get past this. Hopefully I'm a new me tomorrow! | |

| We were in Cedar City for a for a few days so I ran around the town a little bit, not really knowing were I was going. Need to have a high mileage week, but not looking to good for next week either. Wed. leave early for Martins Cove. I know Thurs. we walk 7 miles and Friday 9 miles. | When I got off work this A.M. driving home the temp. outside was 69 degrees. I knew I should go out and do a couple of miles, but I was just too tired! I knew I would regret it later, and I was right. So when I got up around 12:30 I worked on a few skirts for the trek and then decided no time like the present and headed for the treadmill ( Yes, you heard correctly the treadmill ) I knew I wouldn't get around to it later so that was the only alternative. I did 2 miles and then stopped and stetched for a minute and then 1 mile stopped and stretched again and then 1 more mile for a total of 4. I don't know why the treadmill is so mentally tough for me. The stretching was more of a mental rest than physical just to get through. But now I am off to make bonnets! Maybe the treadmill wasn't so bad, I am not much of a seamstress and the fits and fights that I sometimes get into with the sewing machine can rival any well meant two yearolds tantrum, only I can't send it for a timeout because in the end I am at it's mercy! Wish me luck! I think actually pulling the handcarts will be like cake compared to the 6 skirts and 3 bonnets I'm somehow trying to produce :) | |

| When I got up this morning even though I slept in a little late, (I had told myself that I would get up early and run when it was cool, but at 1:00 a.m. when I went to bed last night I changed my mind) so I got up and went out about 8:30. It still felt pretty cool and was a little overcast so I thought I should get a longer run in. I haven't had anything over 4-5 miles in almost a month. It actually felt really good. I found little sprinklers along the way and then about mile four I was on a new road they are paving and I ran past a water truck that was spraying the road and it really got me wet! It felt oh so nice and I think thats why I convinced myself to do a few extra miles (Yea!) Well off to make one more skirt, I ran into a friend in Walmart yesterday trying to figure out what she needed to make her skirts for the trek and I realized her sewing skills might be worse off than mine ( If that could be possible?) so one more to go :) | |

Three very large and somewhat sandy hills later 3 mud bogs and 3 river crossings( That was the fun part at the end) we finally made it back. I was worn out! |

I got off work this morning and it felt so nice outside with the fresh smell of rain in the air even though I was tired I couldn't resist. My legs were still a little sore from Martins Cove and since I was tired I didn't know what I had in me but off I went. Started off and felt really good, about half way in my calves started to tighten up but other than that a great run considering being up almost 24hrs. I probably could have gone longer but I went in a random route around the neighborhood and didn't really know my distance but when I went by my house I somehow slipped in to go to bed. So glad I got done and didn't have to face my treadmill in the afternoon! ( Thinking about doing a 5 mile run in Monroe in the morning, but it will be after another night shift so if I do it will be purely for the days run not to race, but we'll see, it's only 10:40 p.m. now and my bed is calling. I'm gonna need to catch a second, third or fourth wind by then)

| When I got off work I decided to go to the race in monroe. I rode over with a friend, and by the time we both got changed and ready it didn't leave time to warm up. But the race was getting started late that left us standing around waiting and getting verrrrryyyy sleepy not moving. I had decided that this was indeed not a race for me, due to 2 nights of night shifts, and still having sore calves from Martins Cove. Just motivation to get a run in in the a.m. so I didn't have to do it later and think about it all day. When we finally got started I was determined to start slow and steady or I new that I would be out of steam for the last mile or so since I have never done more than 3.5 after no sleep. I don't know what my mile times were, but my pace felt good, not to fast, but not getting left clear behind. I was surprised that it didn't feel more difficult than it did and things were going good. The last two miles a very annoying guy played leap frog with me the rest of the race. He would stop and walk and then run passed me, then stop and walk till I got about 20 feet ahead and do it again. When we turned the corner to the finish line he ran ahead and came in just before me (AGGHH!) I did have a little reserve to speed up but not quite enough! All in all it was probabley my favorite race of the summer. I liked the course a few small hills but mostly pretty even and a good route. I'm glad I got out in the morning and now I can relax for the rest of the day! (I asked at the end if it was exactly 5 miles and they said it was only 4.8) | |

| Didn't get out till after eight this am. Warmer today than yesterday and much more humid. My legs felt so stiff. Like the tin man effect I'm sure. It took a minute to make sure they were actually bending. Left calf is still so sore. I wanted to run it out a bit, but not add to the problem. I think I am also still behind on my sleep. I usually really feel it a day or two later when I don't get adequte sleep after a couple of nights. But glad I did get out. |

| Another great run in Lyman! Felt a little tired and slow. This could be due to getting to bed too late with many interuptions, lots of extended family spending the night most of them under the age 13 makes for a short/long night! Great scenery makes the distance go by easily even when your tired! Looking forward to some kinda nap today (I Hope! ) | |

| No running today, travel day again. It was crazy, in Seattle we never saw a cloud and there was little or no humidity that I could feel. We stepped of the plane in SLC and it felt like getting off a plane in St. Louis or something I couldn't believe the humidity change and how backwards it all was! But we had a great time up there. Our hotel was out at the airport and a taxi ride to town was about $60 dollars round trip so we rode the bus. Quite an interesting experience ( I do live a sheltered life ) During the day is was just interesting, at nigth we came back late after the ball games around 11:00 p.m. and it felt a little like the night bus on Harry Potter! |

| Got to bed late last night (has to be the theme for this sumer in my life) so felt like catching up on sleep was more important than running when it was cool. Ran around 9:30. At first it didn't seem to bad. But as things got going I really felt the hunidity. I just felt drained. Part of that I know is from traveling and just being out of my normal(abmormal) routine. |

| Four miles today. Got out late again, so got warm pretty fast. One thing that I am looking forward to is it cooling down for running. I hate summer to end and would take a hot day over a cold one on any occassion except to run. And when it really cools off and it's freezing outside, and I'm crying about the cold ALL WINTER.....I will deny that I ever said that! | |

| I got out a little earlier than usual and that sure seemed to make a difference! Even though it wasn't a whole lot cooler, I guess every little bit helps. I wasn't as tired and once I seemed to get going it felt pretty good! I might try getting up early and getting a few more long runs in this week. But that will probably be later this week as I have two night shifts tonight and tomorrow. |

| I went out after I got home from work around 6:30 a.m. I put on a t-shirt and shorts and when I stepped out of the garage I actually was cold for a second. I knew it wouldn't take long to warm up but it's crazy how one day it's humid and killer heat and the next day the leaves have fallen off the trees and you have a jacket on... I love summer and can't stand that even though were a ways off it's slightly changing! My run didn't last very long got tired easy and was past ready to be to bed! My hip is starting to hurt again, I'm so bummed about it. I'm still pretty sure it's the bursitis and am not sure why my injection didn't last a little longer. If anyone has any suggestions about stretching, miracle cures, anything...it would be greatly welcomed! | |

| Well.... I Got up and decided to do a 6 mile total out and back. But I hate out and backs very boring, so when I got to the 3 mile mark I thought about an alternate road just up the road that would take me in a loop, tack on a couple of extra miles which was good because I wanted around 8 rather than 6 miles. Well as things went along I could tell it was going to be a little more than 6, 8, who knew for sure. I was actually feeling pretty good and decided to let go of any thought of times and just run. And things were going along really well. That was untill I decided that I was verrrrryy thirsty and no water in sight. I was out on a lonngg dusty road and about 8 miles into my run. I managed to make it into town and get to a gas station and get some water and was at 9.8 miles and decided I was done. I would just call home and have them come and get me. " Just last night my husband was saying we have four cell phones in this house do we still need a land line?" After trying three of the five various numbers I realized I would be running home. So after about a 4 minute water break I was off. After another .6 miles I decided my hip hurt to much to keep running, and I started to walk. After another 2 blocks of walking I decided that it hurt just as much to walk as it did to run, and I was taking too long to get home and started running again. All in All not too bad of a run and it forced me to do a long run which I haven't had a chance to do lately. But next time I will be better prepared and have some water and I think that it will go better. Hope that my hip will let me walk/run tomorrow or maybe it will be all for not! | |

Hip still sore and had a hard time finding any rythym to my run so I called it quits after three. Hopefully tomorrow finish off the week with a good run. (Yes, that is a common theme to my night shift life) We got 2 kids and 1 husbands school shopping done in about 6 hours, that is record time! This morning hip allowed me to run at a natural gate which was good but my body just felt a little zapped of energy. I did have a new high for mileage this week, 31 miles. I hope to maintane or build on this and hope my body will cooperate! Also hoping that tomorrow with a day off will rest and rejuvinate me!

| The DREEEAAADmill is a four letter word!!!!! Also a mental tourture chamber! With that said I thought I'd feel better but..... I went a whole 2 miles on the treadmill and feel like I ran a marathon. I'm blaming it on the nightshift again, it is a catch all for all badness in my life! But now I'll be more motivated to run when I get home in the morning regaurdless how tired I am it will have to be easier than that was! Way to get going on the high weekly mileage! | |

| Made it out after work this morning and initially with the help of the slightest down hill slope had my first mile in around 8:55, was feeling good and had a lot of eneregy! The second was about 9:25 and a little up hill, the third, and I started to feel tired was not so great about 10:30. Not to impressive of a run but did get out before going to bed! I told my husband not to let me into bed under any circumstances before I had run because if I woke up and had to face the dreadmill again I think I would have died! So my weeks mileage isn't shaping up to well I will have to be a lot more motivated for the rest of the week! | |

| A pretty slow and difficult run today. It is pretty humid out we have had rain the last two days and that and I think general fatigue seemed to really get me. About two miles in the sun came out from the clouds and it got real warm and even seemed more humid. I managed to bounce along at what seemed like a very slow pace. At around 5.25 miles I decided I had to have a drink and ran into the gas station and drank out of the bathroom sink and then made it home. Not my best run by far, but it's a done run! time 59:59 So now I'm off to clean the bathrooms!! It just gets better and better! Have a great day everyone! | |

| Better run this morning than yesterday. Not quite as humid, so that helped. I wanted to do 6 again today, but I took a new route this morning and when I got to my house it was only five and I called it quits. Hope to get to bed before midnight today or tomorrow so I can get some kinda long run in this week. Hip seems to be doing a little better this week. I have found that heat is helping more than ice. It goes against everything that I've ever thought to be correct, but if it's helping I'm not complaining. Just hope it doesn't backfire and then I get a huge setback! | |

| Got up and had my husband drop me off about half way on his way to work so I could run home and not have to do an out and back or wander around town. As we were driving it seemed so far away at the time that I gave in and had him only kick me out at the 6 mile mark and figured that I would add on 2 more for 8 in town if I had it in me. The first 6 miles were really good. I got me some new songs on my Ipod and just rolled along. Dropped off water on the way out so I didn't get thirsty. It was quite muggy and overcast but at least the sun wasn't beating down on me. I do feel like I am turning into one big mosquito bite though. I saw a few sprinklers to run through but didn't want to wash off any of my repelant (darn!) When I got to town things got a little difficult, I thinkk more mentally than anything. I ended up with only 7.7 but now that I am not as intimidated with the road he kicked me out on, next time I'll have him take me a little farther! Good run all in all. On a little down note.... today is the last day of summer at our house.... I hate the thought of my kids going back to school on monday! So today we are totally taking it easy. Going to lunch and just soaking the last drops of freedom in. Later they have a big Highschool Musical 2 party planned with the neighborhood kids. Swimming, pizza and the movie. My goal today is to enjoy the day and not think about it coming to an end! | |

For a five mile run it was pretty hard, had some long tough climbs, ( For me ) but I just took it easy and went with it. I have loved the last couple of days running with these overcast skies. Even though the humidity is high, especially today, it just seemed so relaxed and peaceful out, occasional sprinkle now and then felt good too. Well looks like I made it home just in time, there goes more thunder!!! Now I hope it thunders, lightnings and pours all day long!!! Have a great weekend!!

| Well today is the first day of school at our house so everyone gets in a little bit of a dither, from the kids to our dad who is the principal of an area school. Knowing that things might be crazy when I got home from work this morning and I might not get out I decided to take the long way home and run home. That way if I came home and things were a llittle crazy I would already be done. I did however forget to get my ipod so I had to do it without music. something I never do. It wasn't too bad once my breathing regulated and it didn't sound as much like a trane huffing and puffing along! All in all not to bad. Well got everyone off to school for the big first day!!! | Again I think the theme for the last two runs has been hard. Today seemed even harder that the six miles that I did yesterday? I even seemed to do better Mon and Tues. running home from work after a 12 hour night shift, seems a little backward. I guess the bright spot is that I've gotten it in for today and look forward to tomorrow!! I'm sure it will be better. :) :) Oh... I forgot to mention that Tues. morning while I was running home it was dark out and I came around the corner just as a car was coming down the road. We kinda came together at the same time. Well up the road about 20 feet is a canal bridge. The car was obviously going faster than me, so it got to the bridge before me. Just as it did, a skunk came skooting out across the bridge. I'm really glad for the car because I'm sure we would have met almost face to face. I thought it was funny because of the discussion on skunks just the other day! | |

| Today I lingered a little around the house, made the mistake of turning on the t.v. while I was making my bed after the kids left for school! It only sucked me in for about 10 mins. but I know that I can't do that any more, it made it really hard to get out the door. At one time I told myself that I could have the day off! My hip was hurting when I got up and that was part of the problem. I did put some heat on it when I got up and took ibuprofen about an hour before heading out. Once I got out the door things didn't feel all that easy but I did talk myself from four miles into six. And now sitting here the hip feels pretty good. ( the pain will be later!) pretty nice run, but I have felt like a turtle all week! Average time 9:55. I get so jealous when I read all the guys on the blogs comments, they seem to have all these gears and an accelerator to choose from, I tend to be stuck in second gear! On the bright side it's FINALLY FRIDAY!!!!! This marathon week at our house is almost in the bag... Yea!!!! Can't wait to hear all of the weekend race reports! Good luck to everyone!!! | |

Still felt a little sluggish this morning. Hope to hit the ground running next week and get a long run in there too. Hope that we can settle into a better schedule and get to bed at night, i think that would really help. I thought out a new route last night before bed because I wanted something different today, but wasn't sure on the distance so I just went with it and hoped I would get in a nice run for the start of the week. Knowing that I have to work tonight and tomorrow night and my runs are usually short for those days. The new route seemed to be a good one and I felt really good. It wasn't untill about a mile in I realized that I didn't have any hip pain!!!! (Yeaaa) Around mile 5 I did start to feel it creep back into my run and by mile 6 it was back again. Mile 7 feeling a little tired and ready to be done. But really felt good the whole time all things considered and glad to get the week off to a good start!

| Started to run home after work this morning and about half way there, I realized that I didn't have anyone to get me back to my car untill around five today. So I decided to mix it up and wander the streets and then head back up to the hospital and just drive home. My calves were a little so from the two previous runs this weekk, but other than that felt pretty good inspite of being up all night! Even pushed myself towards the end. After sleeping for a few hours today when I got up calves still very sore. Can't figure out why they are always the only muscle to get sore, and why they do so often. I would think that with the regular use they get this wouldn't happen so often? | |

| last night before going to bed I did some leg exercises...squats, lunges ect. Today when I got up I wasn't particularly sore, but when I went out to run, I was stiff. Legs just felt heavy and didn't feel like they would go where my brain was telling them to go. wanted to do a longer run, but just didn't have it in me. So I'm hoping to have all the stiffness worked out today and get a longer run in tomorrow. I'm sure doing some strenght training for the legs would help with endurance and possibley speed, but right now I'm wondering where the balance should be as to not decrease my miles weekly due to soreness? | |

| Six hard miles today. Maybe it was the heat (just felt hot today) maybe it was the sore muscles, maybe I'm just tired. There was only one mile, around four that felt pretty good. The route that I did today is always mentally tough for me but today it was physically too. I had told my self at the end of mile five at the top of a small hill that I could walk. But by the time I got there I talked myself out of it again because I knew that I would be mad at myself all day for that one. Pushed through, and actually lived to tell about it!!! | I was only half comitted to running this a.m. Set the alarm and if I felt good decided I'd go. My husband and two youngest girls left for the weekend last night. I am going to catch up to them today. So I got to bed quite late (teenage daughter at home) at 6:00 a.m. middle childs alarm clock goes off loudly...arggg! go shut it off ( I think) back to bed. Ten minutes later daughters alarm goes off again, go push lots of buttons and hope for the best, go back to bed. Lay down and decided to check other daughters alarm clock, doesn't appear to be set, go back to bed. Just fall to sleep, my alarm goes off....decide I am too tired turn it off (I know how to run my own alarm) try to go to sleep. Just start to doze again youngest daughters alarm goes of, not terribly loud, cover my head with pillow, after a few minutes of that, decide that I'm suffocating and can't breath, I could be doing the same thing and getting some exercise at the same time... give in and go running!!!! Happy long weekkend!!!!! | |

Got up later than I should have ( I always think that it is going to much cooler than it is at home, never is) But in spite of the warmer, late start, a pretty good run. The last 2 miles seemed hard and I wanted to be done, but there was only one way back and so I stuck it out. Was rewarded at about the last mile found the only sprinkler of the day and it was a soaker! :) Last week only had one real day of hip pain, today none also, maybe the battle of wills is currently in my favor!!!

I had forgotten because of the holiday weekend that my schedual was off and didn't realize Tues. that I had to work untill 4:30 in the afternoon, so I got up at 5:45 in the A.M. and didn't take a little nap or anything before going to work. Work was exceptionally busy, felt like I ran all night! So by the time I got home I wan't even walking and talking at the same time all that well. Decided to give it a go anyway... it was actually pretty good, but due to a time crunch and the fact that I hadn't done irrevesable damage falling or anything else painful, decided to call it a day and get the kids out the door so I could take advantage of the peace and quiet and SLEEP!!!

| Wasn't even gonna go out at all today, but McCall wanted to take Clydes advice and run barefoot in the grass. So we went to the ball fields behind our house and made a lot of big loops in the grass then played follow the leader all over the fileds. It was actually pretty fun!! I thought I would just have us run around untill we had done a mile or mile and a half and then go home, but after we got down there and took our shoes off to start running my Nike Ipod quit working..... It took me a minute to realize that I was missing the sensor that attaches to my shoe. So we just guessed on the distance. But I bet it was pretty close maybe more. I felt like I better do something today with Lybi mentioning a BIG GOOSE EGG yesterday made me a bit self conscious!! (just kidding) The discussion on running barefoot earlier mentioned that it makes you more light on your feet, however I didn't feel any too light on my feet running through the grass, but it did feel like when I was a little kid running the neighborhood in the summer and never being able to find my shoes... Just as fun with my little one too!! We'll definately do that again, fun to see her get excitted about the idea of running!!! | |

And there is something kinda intimidating about riding in the car it always seems so much farther to me than after I've ran it and then drive it.... oh well, my mind has played worse tricks before!!! Well when we left I put on shorts, and lets just say heat was not ever a factor today!!!!! I was cold when I climbed out of the car. Even after getting warmed up on the run, sitting here at home now I'm a little bit chilled!!!!! So enjoy that heat all you guys down there in the SUN!! | Went to SLC on Friday, and spent the night at my sister-in-laws in West Jordan. I took my running stuff and decided that if I was really feeling ambitious I would go for a run. Set my alarm, got up to go and realized I left my shoes at home....uhhggg!! I was really mad because I would have loved to sleep in. I did have another pair of sneakers, difinatley not running shoes, but decided I was up and would give it a try. Not to bad, but the shoes are really different from my running ones and for the first 2 miles I felt like my legs were just not in control, it was weird. Kinda fun to run in the city I saw runners all over the place, as I ran down a busy road by Day Break. As I passed them I wondered if any were bloggers? It's always fun to run in a different place and see knew scenery it is nice and distracting!!! I ran up passed where my sister-in-law thinks is going to be the new temple at Day Break. If that is the case it has a beautiful view of the valley around it. I kinda had a rough week getting in my miles, and it's Sunday night now and my calves are still really sore, they have been a lot latley, but I think the change in running shoes must have added to that, so I'm hoping to get a better week this week, we'll see I guess!

| Today when I got off from work I went straight to bed, so that meant that I had to run when I got up, before I went back to work. The temps. weren't to bad around 1:30 when I headed out, and for the first 2 miles everything was feeling good! The last mile the sun came out from behind a cloud and things seemed to heat up, but I don't dare complain about that too much! No signifigant hip pain today or really last week, just small grublings here and there. Calves got tight again at about 2 miles and feel sore now, I decided when I got back home that I would call and get an apt. for a massage...(Gasp!) I feel a little selfish doing this, but am justifying it with the fact that I have been reaching and going over my mileage goal all of Aug. 1 week in July and off to a good start this month! I'm hoping that I can loosen up those tight calves and then hit a long run later this week! |

Felt great but any cooler and I would have had to put on a long sleeve shirt. Saw scouts putting out flags in the neighborhood yards and it made me so greatful for the great country that we live in and for the many brave people willing to defend it!!!! Well as soon as the kids are out the door, I am gonna have myself a little snooze, then head off for that massage, and right now I'm not feeling any guilt!!!!!

They stopped about half way to have breakfast at the bakery, and I kept going to add on a little more. Was hoping to do 6 today, but time contraints didn't allow. Left calf still sore, I think that I was expecting my massage to fix everything, but I think that is a little to much to expect, I think it would require a couple of repeats frequently. It did feel great! But I didn't wake up with the body of 25 yr old, ( darn ).

So she and I went and did a mile at the softball fields with a few stops and then I was going to do a few more miles on my own, like at least 3. When I headed out it was completely dark, and I cut it to 2 miles. I don't know why I feel more comfortable in the morning in the dark, but tonight it seemed a little more dark or something. So a total of 3 for the day, hopefully make up for it tomorrow!

| It took up a good portion of my running energy to just get out the door today! And I really don't know why? But once I got out, I was feeling pretty good. I was doing my 8 mile loop backwards for the first time and wasn't sure how it would turn out. At three miles so good so far, five miles doing fine. 6 miles the wheels start to come off. I don't know what happened from here on out but I can honestly say I can't remember a run that was as hard as the last 2 miles of this one. My hip began to really hurt ( which I thought that I had more or less kicked this problem) and I just felt like every step took all my effort. I managed to limp on into home without stopping, but my pace was barely a crawl. I don't know if it's been that I have slacked a little on my runs the last two weeks or what, but definatley not a great run. Gotta get out and redeem myself tomorrow! | |

| one easy mile with McCall for a warm up, and then 2 .5 on my own. After yesterdays run and my hip hurting all day I was a little hesitant about getting out on it and considered calling it good for the weekend. When I got out of bed, it was still giving me alot of problems. But I decided to do some easy warm up with McCall and see how it went. The first few steps really were painful, but after that it seemed to ease up. So I decided to do a few on my own. I'm glad I did, it seems to have loosened things up, and it actually feels a little better! | |

When I got off work this morning I wasn't terrinbly tired and it was nice and cool, but I somehow ended up going to bed instead of out for a run, BIG MISTAKE!!!! When I got up I had to pay the piper! I did 3 miles on the DREADmill and it was painful!! I thought I would surely die before I finished and then I would get away with only 1-2 miles and get off easy. neadless to say I lived to tell about it and it was torture, I think I do this about once a month to remind myself why I don't run on the treadmill more often!

| Got out this morning while it was nice and cool, about 50 degrees! SOOOOO much better than on the treadmill. Nice run, a little grumbling from the hip the last 2 miles but other than that really good. We have an ATV jamboree here in town for a week every year this time of year, so it was me and the ATV's out in force around town today. As I was finishing up the run, they were headed out on one of the tours that leaves near my house. I know that there are a lot in town but as I was going down the road they were coming in the opposite direction. They kept coming and coming and then more and more.... when that group finished a smaller but not few by any means went the other way, the same direction I was heading. I know this gets bigger every year, but I just couldn't believe there were so many! They let them take over the town, ride main street, sometimes more ATV's than cars there. And everywhere else in town. Last night at work I took care of a couple that drove from Wisconsin to ride. CRAZY! Well enough about that! Off to the Big City for a meeting, have to drive four hours for a two hour meeting (Hmmmm!) That's what I get for living in the country I guess! Ran I mile with McCall this evening on the grass at the ball park, she did great tonight 10:35 pace and no stops tonight! | |

| Nice easy run this morning, it was really cool when I normally head out so I waited about a half hour to fourty-five minutes, maybe it wasn't as cool as I thought or the sun heated things up nicely, but got warm fast. Hip started to hurt at the end again, but did take ibuprofen before and as soon as I stopped so did the pain. I think I'll take that through out the day and see if that will settled things down. Overall good run, average pace 9:38 One mile tonight with Callzee, pretty fun to see her endurance increase and her desire to set goals! She'll be faster than me before long I'm afraid. | |

| Didn't much feel like getting out today, kinda have suffered with that all week. But once I got going, about 2.5 miles in I told myself just to relax and just go with it, it seemed to feel better. I took 2 ASA by mistake this morning, thought I was grabbing ibuprofen to ease the hip pain before I went out and I think it worked pretty well. That might be a start of something. I'm not sure why I haven't been motivated to do any long runs or getting out? I have been doing a mile each evening with my daughter, I don't think that should be zapping my energy in the morning, it's always a real relaxed run and so fun, but maybe it is? If so then I guess it is good for me and will eventually help build up more endurance and energy over the long run. Well were almost officially into the weekend so that's cause for a great day! | |

| I told myself that if I got out right when the kids left for school, I was sure my run would go better than the last couple of days. I was right!!! Probably the best run for the week. Felt good almost all of the run. The one hard part with a good hill that's at the golf course, a cute little older man in a decked out golf suit and clubs saw me coming and walked back into the road and acted like he was timing me! ( Good thing he didn't really have a stop watch, it would have been pathetic up that hill). but he was a nice distraction! I also did a few fartleks? They were not too impressive, but about 5 of them that seemed to break things up too! All in all a good run. I didn't run with McCall last night so I'm not sure if that is one of the reasons that I felt a little more spunky? But if that's the case I will just have to buff up and still do both. Those nice relaxed miles with her are fun and I'm not willing to give them up. Ohhh and I took one asprin, one ibuprofen today and not even a squeek of hip pain. Maybe that has to do with no evening run last night too? Well it's finally Friday! By far my favorite day of the week!!!! YEA!!! | |

| Not such a good running day, but so far my only goal was to get out and mission was accomplished! Callzee and I ran an easy 1.5 together and then I did a LITTLE more on my own. Because I was quite crunched for time tonight! I must say I did feel better after I got out and ran even if it was just a bit. I woke up feeling kinda grumpy and not sure I wasn't coming down with some kinda stomach yuck, but I'm feeling a lot better now! It was almost cold tonight. My hands and arms were borderline numb by the time we were done! Even though it's not my best workout of the week running with a ten year old adds quite a new perspective. She notices everthing and is soooo positive. We talked about the beautiful moon and how believing you can do something is all that matters! She is the sweetest kid! I have a crazy schedual this week, so my only goal is to get my legs moving everyday this week, no set distance! I have a confrence in SLC that I have to go to later in the week that is really gonna mess with things but I'll do my best! | |

| I did .85 with McCall and then the rest by myself. She seemed to struggle a little tonight, but I think she was a little distracted. I didn't have a lot of time either, so kinda another wimpy day. Tomorrow is likely my only real good day for much of a run so I hope to capitalize on that and make it count. I did survive the field trip to Provo today, It was touch and go a few times, but it all ended well. What can you expect from a bus full of 5th graders and a total ride of 4.5 hours. (I'd like to think I could run a marathon in that amount of time it I had been training.) I also started out the day with a nice healthy breakfast thanks to Sasha's advice (Raw oats, fresh sliced peaches and milk) I'm sure that helped! Thanks Sasha, your advice is always valuble. | |

| I went out a little later today because I refuse to bundle up yet if I don't have too. By ten it was shorts and t-shirt weather so that was good around 58 degrees, actually about perfect. I was going for 6 miles but when I went passed my house and saw that my husband had came home from hunting I went home to say hi! O well I'll run with Callzee tonight and get it up to 6 or maybe more. I was supposed to make today count as I am leaving at 5 in the morning to SLC to a nursing confrence untill Sat. I have to be up at 4 am. The entire reason I work nights is becasue I never want to see an alarm clock that says 4 am! So much for that!!! I guess once in a few years I can handle it? I'm hoping to find time to run at the hotel, but we are staying down town and the Gateway is within walking distance.... I may have to put on my running clothes jet down and speed shop through the stores and call that running!!! Yep, I think that I'm on to something. I'll let you know how that goes!!! Who knows I may even have some all time high milleage for the week. Added 1.3 to make 6 for the day, off to the city tomorrow and hope t get some running in! | |

| 2 miles on the treadmill in the hotel at 9:45 at night after getting up at 4:00 a.m. and just getting back from Olive garden and comsuming entirely too many calories. Inspite of the obvious, not to bad. Would of done more, but tired and big day ahead, sleep was my priority! |

| four miles on the hotel treadmill at 6:00 a.m. felt like I had just left there...oh wait, that was just last night!!! Not bad for the treadmill. | Three on the hotel treadmill. Not a record week, but glad that I got some runs in, which was the goal for the week. I have eaten terrible at these meetings and have decided to clean up my diet. No more treats till.....well I haven't decided the specifics. I think I'll commit to whatever tomorrow when my head is a little clearer, and I'm not under the influence of sooo much junk in the gut!! It won't be anything like no sugar or white flour, but it will be a good step for me and definately one in the right direction! | |

Yes there was a.1 mile on the end and I'll take credit for it all!!! Came up with every excuse in the house to put off my run this moring, but I prevailed and got it done early. I'm sure it would have happened but it wouldn't have been as long and it would have ruined my morning nagging and feeling guilty about it. One of the reasons that I wanted to run later is to get some cleaning done. The other night and the past few days some of the girls I work with have been telling me about the lady they have come and clean their homes. One girl just started having someone come and went on and on about how they did such a great job and this and that they cleaned the llight fixtures the trash cans and everything in between, yada yada yada..... so I at first was a llittle jealous and then just decided I wanted my house to feel like that, so I went to town yesterday! When my husband got home last night he very calmly after about a half hour or so asked me to step away from the sink and put the rag down!! But what I did get done felt so good that I'm ready to get after it again today. Who needs a maid when I can get motivation from someone who has one and save my money for something much funner!!! The disclamer here is that I'm not a slob and really had a clean house to begin with but I am loving the extra push to get some things done that I don't routinely do. So now I'm going to check my temperature with that said because I just admitted that I would rather stay home and clean than get out and run? Oh and I've decided to take the plunge. No more sugar or white flour untill Sat. I know it's not much of a commitment but maybe it will lead to bigger things.
Callzee and I did another mile before I got ready for work when she got home for school. Tonight should be the BIG test as far as the food goes. There is no where worse than a hospital at night for temptation and snacks to derail my plan! So here I go!

| I should have gone when I got home from work as I met my husband headed out the door!!!! But I went to bed instead. I didn't want to end up on the treadmill like I did Monday night so I headed out this afternoon. It was a LITTLE windy from my window but decided to get it done. First off it was windy and much warmer than I thought. Felt a little distracted by this but the wind changed from a head wind, tailwind, sideways wind, crazywind ect. as I turned on different roads. I thought I was doing o.k. inspite of it. The last mile that I was so looking forward to because it has a section of downhill in it and is always a nice break turned into a disaster. STRAIGHT ON HEADWIND ! I could feel my ponytail sticking straight out in back and knew if someone would have grabbed the back, it would have for sure created a treadmill effect. ( I'm sure that could have been entertaining :) ! ) Most of the time I could not hear my music in my own ears, just and occasional base note. But I did endure, I came to an intersection with a truck, I should have stopped and let him go, but was sure if I did I would have never got going again! Well I did make it home to find my average pace to be 10:00 per mile. no that's no record but I was sure it was much worse. Last night I survived quite well on no processed sugar and no white flour. This account is more for my own bennefit but I ate a salad from Subway with all the veggies with some meat and cheese and then snacked on dried apples and homemade wheat bread with honey, and homemade bannana bread. I think I may have put a cup of white flour in the bananna bread, but it's now gone and I'm not going to sweat over that. I also went to the health food store before work and picked up some cookies, they are a mint looking oreo things that are made with wheat flour and evaporated cane juice but I haven't opened them yet because they look like they are cheating. I am also thinking about making pizza for dinner. If I make a whole wheat crust and then use tomatoe paste with my own spices and then veggie and cheese toppings, even ham or something that wouldn't be illegal would it? Well I do have to feed the kids and although they can bennefit from this as much as me, but I'm tired from a night shift and a hard run, I don't think I could handle an open REVOLT in the kitchen at dinner! Not to mention that 2 days of intense cleaning met with mom out of the house for one night and I can hardley find the kiitchen counter.... But I would like to say that I did encounter much enticement at work. The kitchen left chocolate brownies with marshmellow on top with M&M's in the middle and this pudding that was chocolate, vanilla whip cream layers with broken Reeses on top. Not to mention the usual chips and other things lurking around! Well I've rambled on long enough off to violin/ piano lessons and then to make pizza.... unless someone tells me it's cheating then I guess were eating oatmeal!! 1 easy mile with Callzee tonight, slight breeze that felt good but no wind! (maybe I should have waited?) | |

| Ran my car to Big O to get an alignment and oil change and then left from there. The wind had already started it was coming out of the west and most of my run was north to south so other than annoying it wasn't too bad. Didn't feel particularly energized this morning but maybe it was my afternoon run and evening with Callzee coming off the nightshift thing. But maybe my body is going through sugar withdrawls and punishing mr too. I'm sure it takes a minute to adjust. But once it does if I can catch some speed like Lybi did then that would be great! I won't get my hopes up to much though. So far I think I'm planning to stay the night Friday, so one way or the other I'll do some kinda run on Sat. mornng before the marathon. Anyone in? It might be short due to time but worth a try. | |

| Just me and the treadmill today. When I got up the wind was already at it, and by the time the kids were off it was blowing hard. Couldn't make myself face that, so I headed to the treadmill. I always dislike it also but I had to get it done. I got creative because by 2 miles I was ready to quit, so at 2.4 I jumped off and did a set of 25 abs on the ball, did another mile and then did abs and triceps on the ball and then finished for a total of 4 miles. Also to see the distance on the tracker go by faster ( because without a t.v.dowm there I can't seem to look away from the digital screen of how far I've gone) I did some sprints too. Probably not the best Idea but I would crank it as fast as I could go untill I couldn't do it any more and then down 3-4 times. Well I made it through the week without any refined sugar or white flour. I must say that it wasn't very hard either. And I must be the worlds biggest "Treat" lover too. I love ice cream, candy, brownies all of it! I love it!!! I am at the point last night that I ran to a grocery store that has a home made bakery, and as I walked passed the mint/chocolate brownies, and yummy stuff it looked good but thought I could take it or leave it. I'm sure it tastes good but I really don't crave it! I'm sure I won't be a 100% this weekend but from here on out I'm going to keep trying to keep my diet more in that direction. It's been a fun experiment that I have learned a lot from! | |

Met with Mik'l and Lybi at 5:00 before the marathon for a run. We set up blankets first and then went up the marathon coarse a little and then back. I must say running with someone else and talking and visiting sure makes the miles go by fast! I loved being able to run with them. (Sure is going to make Mondays run boring!)
As for the marathon, it was the first time I have ever watched one and it was a lot of fun! Great to see all of the bloggers come in. Some we could identify and some were just to darn fast and just bluuuurrrd on by! It was very inspiring to see the final product of everyones hard work after reading about it over the past few months. Great to see so many PR's and the OTQ's were incredible! The party Friday night was great too! Fun to meet some of you, and now have faces for names. I think now I may attempt a half marathon this spring and would love to have as many that would like to join me in March down in moab do so!

Did 2.7 miles after I woke up but had to hurry to get back home, pick up kids and get ready to go back to work, thus the short run.
I have to add a little tid bit about Lybi. She met total strangers on Friday and within about 20 mins was convinced by a 10 year old with dimples to climb the rock climbing wall at the expo! My little Callzee was so happy that someone would climb with her! So off they went and Lybi just zipped up to the top. So not only can she run a sub 8 minute mile but she is a natural climber too! As a side note Callzee did not make it to the top that time, but did go back to reach the buzzer and reach the top! Lybi was such a good sport! Thanks :) :)

| Took things really easy today and just put the miles in. I have decided that it's better to do 6-7 miles and not push because there's not a big difference from when I do or don't and I don't get that big of return on my times from when I do. So if I do more miles slower I will build a bigger base and the time increase should come too. Todays times where 9:29,10:10,10:22,10:31,10:44,10:26 for a total of 1:01:24. The first mile was a little down hill, but not much and then a lot of tiny down, but mostly gradual climbs. I always tend to get slower. I'm not going to worry about it much though untill I start to build my base some more. My hip complained quite loudly today also towards mile 5 and 6. I decided today to get to the bottom of this too. I'm going to talk to my friend who is a P.T and see if she thinks she or the Chiro is the best idea and then get on it. The weather was beautiful today for an afternoon run. Not as nice as it is in the mornings but definatley good running conditions! 1.2 easy miles with Callzee tonight. No hip pain on the run tonight? | |

| Same run today as yesterday. Seemed a little harder though? Not sure why? Even though it was an earlier run, it seemed as warm as yesterday and I got thirsty at about 4 miles. Snuck into the multievent center for a quick drink and streched the hip a little and then headed out again. Time almost exactly as yesterday 1:01:30. 1.1 with Callzee tonight, we did it in 10:02, 9:07 pace, that was really good for her. She has used my ipod the last 2 nights, I think were on to something! | |

| So this mornings run was YUCK!!! It was the slowest 3 miles I think I've ever ran, but I felt like I was really working. I was so disappointed when I saw my time when I got home. Well I'm still on for Sat. but I may really need the tow rope!!!! I have to go to Provo for meetings again today, maybe I'll get a mile with Callzee tonight. Maybe my Ipod needs to be re-calibrated. We did hurry last night but last nights 9:07 mile and then todays oh so slow miles are making me wonder??? One mile tonight with Callzee. I timed us with a watch to compare to the ipod. Yes last night and tonight were that fast, and this morning I was that slow. If that kid gets too much faster, she is going to have to find a new running partner. That or we are going to have to do longer runs so I can wear her out faster to slow her down a bit! The interesting thing about the mile we have done the last 2 nights is that it starts up hill, then down a little and the last half is up hill again. Just a little bit, but it's not the easiest mile I could find. Time to go back to the track and do a timed run there. | |

| Last night I took a warm bath and then iced my calves because they were very sore. (driving and sitting for 8 hours when I usually don't sit much at all.) When I woke up they felt much better! I was still slow this morning but not as slow as yesterday. It felt really cold this morning. I had a long sleeve shirt on but it was thin, and I definatley could have used gloves. My hands are still cold a half hour later! I'm looking forward to a warmer run tomorrow in St. George! Yea!!! | |

| Great run this morning! I can't belive how fast the miles go by with someone to talk to. I loved it!!! Ran with Mik'L and Christi in St. George. The weather was great and I loved all the cool little trails they have. I wish I could be down there more often to get together with them. I might find more and more excuses to do so as the weather gets colder!! I don't think anyone talked anyones ear off except me, and I realize I'm a fairly reckless runner that has really no respect for other peoples space. That's the country girl in me that has too much wide open space, and no running etiquette. I promise to improve! | |

| Mondays seem to always be hard. I worked last night so didn't get out tillaround 1:30. I'll finish the rest of miles with Callzee tonight to make 5. We've only been doing one, but I'm ready to push her to 1.5, I hope she agrees. Tonight Callzee and I did do 1.5. We went shortly after going to Wingers to celebrate a birthday, and she had a bit of a stuffy nose, so she pretty much had a sideache the majority of the time. I was pretty proud of her since before we went she said she didn't think she felt up to going! I don't know what it is about running in the dark, or maybe it was the perfect temp. out tonight but the runs in the dark seem mentally easier. I really can't see the hills ect. so I don't tell myself that I have a hard part to go! But it seemed just about as good as it gets tonight! | |

| My husband had to leave for meetings at 6:00 this morning so I got up and ran with him at 4:30! I must have been really desperate for a running partner to get up at that hour!!! But now I'm done till tonight and it's only 6:00 in the morning, I like that feeling a lot! We didn't get to bed untill around 11:30 and I didn't sleep great so I feel a nap coming on later. I'm starting with a pain in the left arch of my foot, I really don't notice it when I'm running but when I get home about 20 mins later and then mildly through the day. It's not bad but I don't want it to become something that's a problem. Anyone have any knowledge about that? Tonight Callzee didn't feel to much like running, stuffy nose and keeps getting side aches, but she at least got out! | |

| So my husband was gone last night and he's not to keen on me running at 5:30 in the moring alone, and for some reason 5:30 seemed easier than 8:00 am, weird I know. It just seems colder around 7:30-8:00 than then, but anyways.... I put it off untill 10:00 waiting for it to warm up a bit more. I think I traded the warmth for the chilling wind! I know I complain of the wind a lot but it is a windy little village here. So I pushed through it, when the wind was at my back once for a short stretch, it felt like I was flying. When it stopped for a time I felt like I was at least 15 ponds lighter. But I fought it up plenty of up hill portions of the run too. Then when I was done I thanked the wind for a nice workout, went home and took a shower and went to lunch with my daughter at my favorite naughty pizza place for cheese sticks and salad and enjoyed every minute of it!!! To top it all of I went shopping after that to Christensen's ( the only department, clothing store in town) and bought a new pair of pants! So far it's been a pretty good day. Now I need to get to work and make goodies for homemaking tonight before the girls come home and it's off to violin and piano lessons. Well it was a little cold and Callzee didn't want to run outside tonight so we took turns doing half miles on the treadmill. I did 2 halfs each in 4:05 mins. I don't think I could do that on the track, but sometime soon I'm going to try. Well Callzee sweet child of mine has succesfully given me her GOMBU...a.k.a cold! I'm taking vit. c like candy, zicam, and airborn too. I'd like it as short and sweet as possible anyother suggestions? | |

| Kinda been fighting off a cold so last night I took a fix your cold sleep pill. It didn't really help all that much and when I headed out to run I felt the effects of the poor nights sleep and cold. Just felt a little discombobulated (sp?) through the first half of the run. Tryed to speed up a bit because I felt like I was barely crawling, but the message felt like it wouldn't get to my legs... O well from there I decided I was just in it for the miles. About the last 2 miles things started to feel a little better, that may have had to do with some down hill and level running more than anything. Averaged 10:00 pace seemed slower than that. Added another .77 with Callzee tonight. We keep having to go right after dinner and that gives her a sideache, after tonight things should settle a bit and allow us to change that, nnedless to say we had to cut it a little short tonight. | |

| I couldn't stand to see a goose egg on my day so I did a short little run. Once I got out it felt o.k. but I had to cut it short to get home for something that came up at the last minute. It was 70 degrees out and it felt great! Some small wind gust that actually helped to cool me off, I actually was a little warm. (I think I might have a low grade temp. though) Even though I didn't feel good it was nice to get out. We'll see what I think in the morning when the cold front has come in. I was really hoping for a long run tomorrow but I'll be happy with 3 or more. Callzee is starting to cough quite a bit so she decided to sit out tonight and I thought that was a good idea too. | |

| Decided to get out and finish the week off right. I thought I was doing 6 but it turned out to be only 5.5 but I still finished the week with 30 miles so I met my goal. Now I'm hoping to be feeling better by Monday and get back on track. Although Wed. we are headed out of town to go on a family vacation so the next two weeks may suffer a bit. Have a great rest of the weekeknd everyone!!! | |

| Today I call this the run of "wills". Will I go, or won't I go? After slowly getting ready ... Yes I will go. Then it was "will I run 4 or will I run 5". You get the picture. Things felt rather hard today. ( Monday is never one of my best runs, and I still feel a little behind from the gomboo that has plagued our house. Mostly on the mend happy to say, things are breaking up in the chest and draining out of the sinuses nicely now. ) So I trudged out the door, things looked sunny and nice, but it was rather cool, but I opted for short sleeves. There were times that I wondered "will my hands freeze off, will I die of heat?" If I was out in the sun with no wind it was feeling rather warm, but if the wind was in my face and my back was to the sun, there were times that I thought feeling to my fingers was gone forever! Well I continued on and decided that I "will" continue on and do 6 miles and was greatful to say that "I did survive"! Now I have hope that I can get done with all the other demands of the day! | |

| Today I did yesterdays run backwards. I think I like it that way better. I felt pretty good today, I wore gloves so the hands didn't freeze off, and I was a little more rested. A few hours of sleep when the moon is up makes all the difference for me, even if it's not for very long! I was a little disapointed when I got home and my ipod said the distance was only 5.88 and that my pace was 15 secs. slower. It was the exact same run and I felt sooo much better today. The over all running time was about 2 mins faster and so I'm going to disregaurd what it said and say it must be having technical difficulties today. Well I'm off to try and and get ready to go, we are leaving for SLC around 4:30 and fly out tomorrow! Aloha everyone! | |

| Ran along waikiki beach and main road. Saw a small black tipped shark, and enjoyed our first morning in Hawaii. Run was short, but much to do and see today. Off to the PCC and breakfast at Dukes on the beach. One of our favorite morning resturants !!! |

| Three miles in Laie, ran around BYU Hawaii campus and around the temple. Nice morning run even though we are a lot jet lagged and got to bed late! Today off to the pinapple plantation, Pearl Harbor and then fly out to Kuaui. |

| Our first moring in Kuaui, we got in after dark, so we took our morning run to get a look around the place and get an idea of the area. We are new to this Island and it looks to be beautiful. So many crazy chickens all over, beautiful shoreline right in front of our condo. I think the next 5 days we are in for a treat! |

| Shorter run this morning, but we found some nasty hills that gave us a run for our money. Also broke up the run with a climb down to some beautiful rocky soreline that was really fun. More lounging on the beach today, look for some great food and repeat... I think we have the routine down really well by now :) |

| Today we did a run from the other day. On the way back we saw some BIG turtles along the shoreline so after watching them for about 10 mins. we decided to hurry back to the condo and get our girls to see them. So we more or less sprinted,( well hurried) back so they wouldn't be gone before we could get back so pretty good effort for today ! |

| No running today, have to go home today and want to hit the beach as long as possible before we have to be out of the condo so we sacrificed the run for beach time. Also we won't get home untill around 9:00 a.m. Thurs. morning because we have the red eye home. Beach, snorkel relax untill noon, check out and shop untill out flight around 6:00 p.m. Can't believe that it's gone so fast! Back to reallity today ... :( |

| Well we are home and had such a WONDERFUL trip !!!! I wouldn't know how to sum it all up, but we packed the week FULL of FUN and SUN !!!! We went to the Polynesian Cultural Center, Pearl Harbor and many sites in two fast filled days on Oahu. Then we were off to Kuaui.... there we layed in the sun and played of the beach as much as possible (which was quite a lot!) We ate entirely too much wonderful food and enjoyed hawaiian shaved ice in every possible form. My personal favorite was the kind that had ice cream on the bottom and then on top of the shaved ice either sweetened condensed milk or coconut cream....yum! (Yes the next few days of sugar withdrawl will be PAINFUL !! ) We also ate more pinapple than I think is actually legal, but it is just so darn gooooood !! We snorkeled a little, boogie surfed and played it the sand. We saw big turtles in the morning running one day and played with the sandcrabs. Oh that reminds me I did get some running in most every day, even though it wasn't very much. Usually when I run at sea level it seems really easy, but most days with the humidity it wasn't. One morninng we saw a small black tipped shark while running too. Even though the morning runs were usually short and sweet, and sometimes short and hard (some days we found some nasty routes with yucky hills) we usually saw things we normally wouldn't have seen and were glad we went out ! All in all it was a great time!!!! Now back in reallity, I need to get back into my running and better eating routine, but I couldn't go to Hawaii and not fully enjoy the culture and food! I had hoped the week away would help the foot, but I think playing and running around the sand was anyting but a rest for it. Oh well I'll take it one day at a time. It might take a day or two to get back to the routine anyway. For now I'm trying to catch up at home, and waiting for our luggage to arrive that didn't apparently make the same flight home with us. When that gets here, I'm going to be up to my neck in laundry. We got in at 9:00 a.m. and said hopefully sometime tonight! As much as I'm not looking forward to the laundry, blow dryer, curling iron, ect. would be nice! | |

| So I finally got out today. I don't know why, but I just had to force myself to do it too. This morning just felt blah, and told myself all day I would go later, but the later it got the less I wanted too. Now that I have, I'm glad I did and it felt pretty good. I didn't go all that far, first because I plan to go in the morning and didn't want to ruin my morning run and second it's dark and no one will be home untill a little later so there was really no one home to see that I made it home so I just stayed close and did loops near the house. I did get one truck that went by with the window down that yelled something out that I couldn't hear due to earphones, that gave my heart a little scare, but other than that all was well. Hopefully tomorrow I'm a little more motivated and energetic! | |

| I didn't feel as light on my feet today as I did last night, I am blaming it on a really bad nights sleep. I really didn't get into any real pattern untill after 3:30 (at least that was the last time that I looked at the clock) and then tried to sleep in and finally gave up after 3 phone calls. I should have pushed myself a little harder, but I wimped out! As for last nights run, I know I could have pushed that into more but saftey won that battle. I really like running in the dark. I'm not sure why either. I think one reason that I like it is because I don't focus on whats ahead I just go with how I feel, not worrying if there is a hill and it's going to be hard or whatever. Unfortunately I don't run early very often to go in the dark, and don't always feel comfortable at night. Well I think I'll try and get another mile tonight and then hopefully by Monday this body will be ready to get back on track for my 30 mile a week goal! | |

| So I was going to run this morning after work, I was feeling great and very awake. But one of the girls at work wanted to talk and talk ect. and I missed the window of opportuninty! I was hoping to get a few in in the morning and then a few before I headed back to work because I knew the afternoon time would be short. So I was right and headed out with very little time to spare to do 2 quick miles. Once I got out it was about 58 degrees and beautiful! I was totally comfortable in shorts and t-shirt and decided to add on at the end inspite of lack of time because it was so nice! (totally paid for it when I got home though!) I didn't make 5 for the day, so I'll have to make that up somewhere in the week, but got more than I thought that I would. Nice little squished snake in the road along the way, I guess that he couoldn't resist the beautiful weather either! | |

| Well today was the day that I decided that my body and mind needed a PUSH and a SHOVE in the right direction! It's been almost 3 weeks since I've done any kind of longer run and I have had a difficult time making myself do so. Well when I got out it was another beautiful day! I don't think that you could ask for anything better, this weather just screams "get out and run!'' At times it was almost hot (how quickly I forget the true hot days of summer) but once I was into the run about 4 miles my body started to give in and just go the distance. Now that I'm done I'm glad that I got it over with and hope that the rest of the week I will have broken the mental barrier that has been limiting me. Average pace 10:07 for the run. | |

| Was beginning to think I might not make it out today, but I finally did around 4:30. It was yet another beautiful day to get out and enjoy! I hope these last a few more days but I think we are pushing it now. I am trying to make an apt. at TOSH to have a gait analysis done, called the guy but didn't hear back, to see if there is anything that would help with the hip or the foot. I also need new shoes so I'm going to get those this Sat. too. I have to take my daughter to Primary childrens on Friday for a procedure and would have loved to get both scheduled but it doesn't look like that will happen, but I can still stop and get the shoes Sat. on the way home. My friend who is a PT says that one of the things that she thinks will help would be to strengthen my core, so I guess I'll start working on that. Not sure how I'll go about it though... sit ups I guess? (I'll ask my personal trainer friend in the a.m.) I'm running in the morning with a friend! Yea! I'm also a little scared though... she's in a lot better shape than me (she's a personal trainer) but said she didn't mind my pace because she's used to doing various paces with clients. She lives just down the street and teaches my kids violin/piano lessons. I'm not sure what to expect, we'll just see how it goes. If we have a adequate pace for both of us and could hook up once or twice a week or even just some long Sat. runs I would be thrilled! Wish me luck in the morning! :) | |

| So I went running with my friend Kara today. I'm not sure what to think of the run, loved the company and definately feel like I got a much harder workout than normal but our avg. pace was 9:49. I usually hit around 9:58 and it's not uncommon for me to have a 9:49 average, so I don't know what made todays run that much harder? At the top of a aprox. 1 mile steady climb, that isn't that steep but never levels off, she stopped us and checked our pulse, mine was around 190-200. I felt like that was a little high, but Kara didn't get to excitted and when I asked she said the only way to get it down is to keep running. She suggested to add sprints in the middle of a run from time to time, I fugure like fartleks and she thought that would help too? So my analysis for today is good workout, felt like I pushed myself pretty hard, but a little confused as to why it was so hard? I'll look forward to running sometime next week with her again, but I'm not sure I could manage a long 7-10 mile run unless she tired out. Another difference is that cardiovasularly she is more fit, when I start to get tired, she was just feeling her body kick in and had some ummph, when I was feeling ummphed out! | |

| No goose egg today, BARELY...... Really a matter of time today, I have to be to SLC in a few hours to take my daughter to an apt. at PCMC, then the good news is I managed to get an apt. at TOSH after her apt. for a gait analysis (so I will get a little more running in today..... LITTLE). I hope he can solve all my problems! ( I hope I'm not to disappointed when he doesn't) but if not maybe just a little insight would be o.k. Sat. on the way home I'll pick up some new running shoes, that couldn't hurt the situation! I packed my running clothes to get in a few miles while in SLC. I hope that I do, probably won't make 30 for the week, but I didn't see this little bump in the road when I set my goal. Well almost the official weekend, YEA!! HAPPY RUNNING :) | |

| Got up and did a quick run at my sister-in-laws and it felt o.k. Wouldn't have been to bad but I was constantly worried about getting lost in the gigantic subdivision they live in. As for the gait analysis that I had on Friday, I'm not sure if I really got any answers (ping goes some change!) He said that my gait and form were actually pretty good, but since I was having pain in that hip, he really looked for a problem. He said that my left leg is a little stronger (more muscle) and that each leg kinda has a different pattern that is different from each other? He said the left could be stronger because it compensates for the right. Also that I had a small amt. of hip rotation in the right leg and that could be causing a bursitis. He recommended an orthotic to be made for both feet that builds up the out side of my right foot slightly that would help with that rotation..... So then the next day on the way home I stop at the Running Corner to get new shoes. I tell them that I need orthotic friendly shoes that aren't too squishy (friday said not to much cushion that allows more movement, irritation in the hip) and told them about the pain in the hip and the PF. The owner took a look at my shoes and in about 3 minutes told me what the guy Friday said. Looking at my shoes there isn't much of a wear pattern that is obvious at all, more at the tips of the toes and then (I coudn't tell) but a subtle difference in the left/right and he said that my left leg was a little stronger ect. He said my form was good by looking at my shoes and said this gait was actually hard to teach people. He watchced me run and said I had pretty good form, we found shoes with a little insert for the PF and I'm hoping to solve the problem with the shoe change and not the orthotic and he thought that was a good idea, he said something about orthotics and that if this didn't help then give a try? Which is what I was thinking all along. I ended up with Asics TN694 speedstar II. They also told me my old shoes were the kings of squishy! So I hopeful (but not too) that I can help things out with this and get my milleage back up! I was excitted that the owner at the Runners corner told me good things about my form, I'm just not sure why I can't make that produce more speed? But I guess I'll be patient with that. | |

| Another beautiful afternoon for running! ( I really don't know what I'm gonna do when these end!) I wore my new running shoes and they really felt good. I tried to incorperate some of the suggestions I recieved at the Runners Corner from Hawk and it felt good too, but I just stuck to kinda doing it in strides. I felt tired towards the end, but my weekend was all messed up eating and sleeping and I'm running after the night shift so I think it's just that stuff, oh and Monday! I know that it's too soon to tell, and it could be due to low mileage at the end of last week and Sunday off, but the hip really feels good post run today. My foot doesn't feel too bad either! I would like to hope the shoes are going to help and I don't think there is anything wrong with being a little optomistic either so I'm hoping it is going to be a good thing!!! | |

| Ran in shorts and t-shirt again today in the afternoon! Who would have ever thought that one week before thanksgiving that would be happening, sure feels nice! My run today felt hard, about a 9/10 on a hard scale. I'm not sure why either. I felt like I did push myself, but the time didn't show it (DARN!!) One of the other problems was I got ssssooo thirsty! I don't know what is up with that, I almost cut it short just to get a drink. Maybe I'm a little behind on fluids and it's just showing up in the runs? My hip did start to hurt around the last mile, (darn again..) but not to bad and I'm icing everything down good following the runs and several times inbetween. I was thinking about when I ran consistently a few years ago and never had this problem, I was going to the gym regularly so maybe a little leg/hip work to increase the tone around that area would help out the hip? Definatley worth a try! I got my maid back! Well it's really just me, but I got some good cleaning in today and I'm not going to quit till it feels like the place shines!!! That is after I work, sleep and then run tonight and tomorrow, then back to the scrubbing, sometimes that feels sooo nice!! | |

| Wasn't sure I would even get out today, but sure glad that I did. Run felt really good. It was rather cool, hands and arms got pretty cold, but I think that the cooler temp. helped with everthing feeling so smooth. I did 3.87 by myself and then picked up Callzee for one mile and then did another little by myself. Came home feeling energized instead of dead like the the last couple of runs, this did alot for the mental end of my running which was definatly needed! I've also decided that I would start adding some strengh training for the hip flexors and legs, that may help with the hip by increasing the muscle and tone to decrease movement and irritation there. Can't say it will help but I'm willing to give it a try! | |

| I've posted on the forum, but I'll put a little blurb here too! I signed up the team under Fastrunning bloggers anonymous. Just go to the Moab half site and then to registration and look under teams (I guess) There are ONLY 6 people per team so we will probably need more than one, so lets get this one going!!! I went running with Kara today. These are a little more of a tempo run for me, which is good helps me keep a more consistant pace. My ipod for some reason won't download the run for today so all I have is the avg. time which was 9:34 for 2.86 miles. Kinda a shorter run, we got a late start today. I'll have to get out and do some more later this evening, (when it's a little warmer) to bring up the mileage for the day. Nice run though, a little challenging on the hill towards home but other than that it felt fine, then I started to fall back a little! | |

| I'm really excitted about my run today. I didn't go first off this morning because I wanted to wait till it got a little warmer outside. But then as always when I put it off I find myself talking myself out of going. Well somewhere inside the running me found myself in running shoes and out the door! I think I waited till it was almost to warm because instantly I was warm, but I got going and things felt pretty good, not great but good. I knew that in order to meet my weekly goal, because I was a slacker yesterday that I would have to do 5 miles today and then 6 tomorrow or the other way around. I was leaning to the 5 today, but when I was headed towards home it I realized that I could split and do 5.5 each (duh!) But anyways... I hit a ever so slighty down hill section (when I'm going up it, it doesn't seem ever so slighty uphill, but what ever?) I was feeling pretty good and decided to push it a little. When I got to the end of the road I was around 9:00 per mile (that's fast for me) So I backed of shortly after and recovered a bit and then pushed again. By that time I was to my house and pretty thirsty and ready to quite around 5 miles. I decided to get a fast drink out of the hose and at least hit 5.5. The water helped a ton and I kept going and found myself pushing it on the same section as before. When I got home to my surprise I had been doing pretty well the whole time and my times went like this 9:21, 9:23, 9:41, 9:30, 9:46, 9:39 avg. time 9:33. I know that's nothing to brag about but for me that's pretty good! But the best is yet to come....(DRUM ROLL) NO ... hip pain or PF pain the whole run!!!! I don't know what the difference is but I'll take it! I haven't ran 6 miles pain free for months!! I'm pretty thrilled! If I can eliminate pain I think that I can start to push myself a little more! I'm really thinking the new shoes must be helping but because things have been so irritated in there that it's taking some time to heal up (I HOPE!!!) But I'm icing right now and going to do some leg work outs next. Maybe I'll even feel like doing 6 again tomorrow!!! Happy running and Happy weekend!!!! | |

| Well I did it!!! First time that I've hit 30 miles in a week since mid October. Maybe that's why things have felt a little bit hard this week (duh). I didn't think it had been that long since I've had a good running week, I guess the body is entitled to rebel a little. Todays theme was "running on emotion." Last night was also the first night that I've had a husband and all kids home on Friday night since late Aug. (Not including Hawaii, but that's not the same.) The girls all were in seperate directions and Ted and I went to dinner but it was sooo nice to just hang out as they came and went and have a chance to just talk with them and each other! We stayed up way too late, till 12:00 waiting for the oldest to come home, and then talked with her till around 1:00. She will be leaving for college in Jan. and although is an adult and very independant has a hard time with some of the house expectaions. (You know that old show Growing Pains? I used to love to watch it... and now I realize how well the title fit!) I know it must be as hard on her as it is us! Then I read Lulu's "Thankful list" on the forum before I headed out today and I felt so bad that she would be leaving us so soon! Well we talked about all the things that we wanted to do today, that currently aren't getting done, so I'm off to get started!!! | |

We stuck to salads but even after that I felt a little urpy towards the end of the run. I told myself I had to do 3 and would have liked to do 4 but I at least pushed past the minimum goal a little. It did feel pretty good for the most part but I never did avoid the wind, just ran with it in the dark instead, oh well the temps. were still great and I hear that is going to change tomorrow! :(

| Ran bright and early for me today! Got up and went with my husband around 5:30. I thought it would be colder than it was... Nice surprise! We went 3 miles together and then I went another 2 by myself. Even though sometimes my pace is faster than it was with him I started to fall behind towards the end of the 3 together? I can't figure it out... I have done the same with mt friend Kara. The other day we ran 2.87 together average pace 9:30, felt like it killed me. The next day 5 miles alone average pace 9:30, felt hard but good? Today same story I finished with average pace 9:40 for the 5 today, and when I was with my husband there was no talking going on, just me hanging on! One thing that seems to hold me back is my lungs, I don't feel like I breath effectively... is there something that can help with this? My legs always feel fine it's just the huffing and puffing that seems to slow me? I guess that it is part of the overall fitness aspect to running but for others that I talk to including my husband he says that his legs fatigue first. Well, really felt good to get out and get it done early today, wish I had the disipline to do that everyday! | |

| Trying very hard to get a run in today and get out the door speedily too! Not doing very well at either, UHGG! I did one mile on the DREADMILL, and started a load of laundry. Did another and packed some clothes. Started #3 and got in 0.5 and had to take a phone call. Went back for another mile and then the phone rang again.... I'm not getting packed and not getting in much of a run either, need to focus on one so I'm done for the day, wanted five but....I'll try to make up for it later in the week (I hope!) Went on a nice run with Mik'L today (see her entry for details, mine will be the shrt version).
It was a little on the cool side, but we actually warmed up enough to shed a layer and then cool off and wish that we had it back. I'm glad that I got it in because the rest of the week went down hill from there. I can say this... running 6 miles with someone to talk with is so much nicer than going it alone, and goes by so much faster!! I love that!

| Not too proud of the run today, but I did get out so I'm going to take credit for it. I ran around a fieild by our family cabin and hoped it would be longer than it was. The first part was a little up hill and sandy and rocky so I was working pretty good for about a mile and a half and then enjoyed a nice down hill run the rest of the way which felt good. I should have extended but I couldn't make myself repeat the loop with the not so fun start. The other road that I could have gone down has a dog that my sister-in-law already has scars from and I didn't feel like the adrenaline rush of how I could possibly out run it or hide from it so I wimped out and went home and had another lunch of all the bad Thanksgiving leftovers! I know that Monday is going to be painful! I have over-indulged for 3 days now and it will soon be time to pay the piper with my own self to thank! But it was all worth it we had the best Thanksgiving enjoying being with family and realxing! | |

| JOYFUL & TRIUMPHANT !!!!!! That is the word for today!!! I thought that it would be very painful and difficult, but I was pleasantly surprised that although running today wasn't a walk in the park, it wasn't too bad! I could have gladly bagged the idea of running due to the many things I have to do today, but realized that if I just hurried and got it done I would be soooo much better off! (A few TOO MANY extra calories consumed this week ready to be burned off!) So now it's off to get the house cleaned up and the Christmas tree in and decorated for FHE tonight! I love the Christmas Holidays and I'm determined to enjoy them this year and not get STRESSES OUT!!!! |

| I got my run in early with my husband this morning. It was a little on the cold side, but overall not terrible untill the last half mile or so. Today I kept up with him better than the other day, I think he slowed down a bit and we were more consistant with our pace. I like running with him, it pushes me a bit but not too hard and then he stops around 3.5 miles and I do the rest at a more realxed pace. I'm not sure if the first is a bit of a tempo run, but it feels like it. We need to get some better cold running gear, I am still cold an hour after running and a cup of hot chocolate! | |

| What a crazy day... I started or finished, I'm not sure which with a run when I got home around 6:00 this morning. I only did 2.5 but it was treadmill miles and after working all night that was a enough for me. I then went to bed for a bit and had to be somewhere at 11:00 and to a work mtg at 1:00. I'm now home trying to regroup and do dinner and the plan is for 2.5 more tonight, I'm feeling pretty tired but I'm feeling pretty determined because Friday and Sat. look a little iffy due to going to the BIG CITY for a MD apt at PCMC for my daughter and then speed shopping to do as much Christmas as I can get done as I have not yet started and there is much to do there! Stayed tuned I hope to not disappoint....(Myself more than anyone!!) Well I finished and actually liive to tell about it!!! Hoping to get to bed early and run with the hubby in the morning! | |

| I've been needing a long run for a while, more mentaly than physically. Running short on time today (no pun inteded)....but I got it done and I'm glad. My legs were a little on the cold side the whole time, perhaps even numb so I can't tell if I had much hip pain. Maybe a jab here and there but so far so good! I plan to strech and ice and cross my fingers that it handled it o.k. so I can continue to keep building that base! Husband bagged on me to make me sleep in ( he does have to shop with me this weekend and a rested wife is a happy wife. He hates shopping but with a cranky wife it's too much for him, not that I could blame him!) Also he thought that it was going to be colder than it was. He jumped on the treadmill and it really worked out because I never would have gone long if I would have ran with him. Legs felt a little sluggish and slow but average time was 9:48 so I can't complain for an inpromptue ?sp longer run!!! Hope to get a few miles in Sat. but looks liike the big goose egg for tomorrow!!! | |

| Two whimpy treadmill miles today on the hotel treadmill. (sounded like I might take flight any minute) But there was T.V. to watch so that was a bonus to my usual treadmill torture!!! That was all I had time for this morning as there is still much shopping to do and very little time to do it today... ya, ya I know and the dog ate my homework.... (excuses, exsuses!!!) Hope to get home tonight in good time to MAYBE do a couple more!!! I didn't make my GOAL again for this week so as today is the first day of Dec. I'm making new goals. 1. Stay home everyweekend untill Christmas. That's it. If I do that I think that the running will fall into place. Oh, and I think I almost have the husband talked into doing Moab with me. Even if it only ends up the 5 miler that will help me to train better if he has a goal too!! | |

| Kinda slow and steady was how it went today. I got all dressed in my best warm clothes to go running in the afternoon after I woke up. I didn't get but a .10 of a mile and I passed a guy in my ward walking in shorts. I knew at that point I was probably overdressed ( but I still think he was a little underdressed too!) I at that point took off my gloves. After catching a little (Not all) of a discussion about easy runs between Brent and Lybi, decided to just go easy today. The run felt really good and the weather was georgious!!! I wore my sunglasses because of the beautiful bright day and the sun reflecting off the white snow. It was so pretty! I eventually pealed off a layer of clothes but not untill about half way through the run, so I think I was dressed almost right. Some days I'm so glad that I have a good reason to be outside and enjoy the great weather even if it is cold out, today was one those paydays!!! (Tomorrow have mtgs. all day and hope to get some good mileage in inspite!) | |

| So last night as I was climbing into bed I heard a big bang and a rushing of water sound!! (UHGGG!!) My husband and I ran downstairs to find water spraying into the air in the furnace room. Something in the water softener broke off and the only way to stop it was to shut off the house water completely off! We went to bed and then in the morning turned it on and hurried and filled the tubs so we could bath. I had to bath last (just like the pioneers) and so I had to heat my water on the stove. So in between the craziness of the no water morning I managed to get it 2 miles. I had to head off to work meetings, arrange to get the plumber here and a ton of other crazy stuff through out the day. My meeting was a recert for a really hard trauma course that I failed to review ( It's December, terrible time of year for this kind of stuff!!) and left the class twiced to deal with kid stuff that couldn't be undone. I managed to sweak through the class and the water softener got fixed so I'm hoping the day gets a little slower and I can get another 3 miles for my regular 5 for the day! Mostly I'm just glad that this happend while we were at home! We have been out of town a ton latley and that would have been a disaster!! I am also really greatfull for indoor plumbing. When you have to go without it even for just a short period of time you are so glad and often take for it for grantide that when you tun on the handle water comes out!! Managed to Squeeze in 2 more miles. I was looking forward to a nice quiet night at home and a date with the treadmill. I forgot that my daughter had gymnastics and then a basketball game so after 2 miles it's time for me to call it a day! | |

| I'm taking credit for every last inch of the run today, as it felt a little harder than I'd have hoped! Perhaps my body was punishing me for being lazy all morning and putting of my run. I was going to get up early with my husband and run, but I told him I'd like to pass when the alarm went off so he went without me. I then put it off a little more as things came up durning the morning and it was after twelve before I headed out the door. I had two chocolate cookies before going that I was sure would be great energy food! I'm not sure if they helped or not but if they did next time I need three because I could have used a little more umph today. Just glad that I got it done and tonight before I go to bed I'm putting a big stick next to our bed so that my husband can be a little more persuasive when it's time to get up in the morning! |

| Managed to get out of bed this morning without any use of force by my husband. We did 3.8 together and then I finished off by myself. Running with him always feels like it pushes me quite a bit but when I finished my pace was the same as yesterday? I must slow down quite a bit when he goes home and I'm on my own. It's o.k. right now I'm just glad that I'm home and am done for the day. The sun is just coming up and it looks sooo cold out. Every thing is frosty and white. While we were running for the most part I was too warm but I'm starting to cool down very quickly, time for a nice cup of hot chocolate I think!! | |

| Well I really learned my lesson today. My husband ran on the treadmill this morning because he thought it would be to wet outside. I disagreed but didn't win. When I took my kids to school, it was around 35 degrees, pretty nice but I procrastinated. Had to run an errand at 9:30 and it was around 41 degrees, really nice. So I slowly got ready to go out. By the time I headed out I realized howwarm it was and had the great idea to do a long run today hoping for about 7-8. About a half a mile into my run it started to sprinkle. By 2.5 miles it was a good drizzle, 4 miles good drizzle and cold wind, 5 miles starting to pour and cold wind. I guess that I learned my lesson for the second time this week, but that's the problem with me I'm sure it will take several more times. I was actually pretty proud of myself that I didn't cut the tun short when it started raining pretty good I figured when I got home I was going to drench myself in water (shower) anyway and it would feel that much better after I endured the run half soaked! Well I'm off to go find out if my theory on that is true! HAPPY FRIDAY!! ONLY 18 DAYS till Chirstmas!!! Are you ready???? (NO PRESSURE!!!!) | |

| So I made my goal of thirty miles this week! (Yea!!) I could have easily stayed in bed this morning, but I stayed in longer than usually so that was a bonus! I really thought that I would bag the goal, and just do a 3-4 mile run, but it was very nice out and although more than half the run I felt pretty sluggish I kept going. I was able to keep shedding layers as it was sunny and warm and each time I lost a layer it felt like 5 pounds coming off and added a little extra spring to my step. I'm sure that's why I was able to keep going! I ended up in just my t-shirt and pants and passed a guy in shorts! I'm sure these days are few and far between in Dec. here so have to enjoy them when we can get them!!! Glad I got in a decent run and now I can rest easy for the day.....( well that's a relative term!) | |

Four painful miles on my DREADMILL..... I shouldn't complain because I take a break after every mile and it's still painful. I still plan for another mile before bed. I need to just toughen up and endure the cold and head outside. On a good note I found some warm weather running clothes that I think will really be nice and even though they are more expensive than I thought was reasonable, my husband said if I ordered them he would wrap them up for me! (I'm not going to ask questions on that one, I'm just going to do it before he changes his mind!!)
I managed to finish the last mile.... barely!

| I ran outside today and what a difference it is, in a good way!! A little chilly, but was nice to not watch the miles click by on the treadmill. Felt a little slow but I averaged 9:48 a mile could be faster but have definatley be slower at times too!!! | |

| Thought today would end up as a big goose egg, but I managed squish in a run! Really glad that I did, feel much better about my to do list and everything else after running. I got pretty cold today on my run the thighs were nunb for the last 2 miles. My face is the second coldest part of my body but I'm not sure if I can handle the ski mask but it might become necessary! Talked to Steve at the St.George running store about some cold weather gear and he was very helpful and I'm excitted about getting some warmer clothes that are light wt. when I load on my sweatshirt and other layers it feels like I weigh a extra ten pounds! I'd rather take advantage of the discounts and experience there than go it on my own so it should be good! | |

| I worked in Santa'a workshop all morning sorting and boxing and organizing till around noon waiting for the temps. outside to come up, decided that it was then or never as I had to run some errands and then go to work for a meeting. I bundled up and headed out. Not too bad when ever I head to the North there is a chilly breeze that goes through me but other than that I survived. Today was dog day. Everywhere I went trucks with barking dogs in the back wishing they could get out and get a closer look. And then I went by a house on a new route that I quite like, had a doberman looking dog behind a fence that jumped up on it and scared the bejeezers out of me. He had that somewhat happy looking tail wag as he whoofed to the top of his lungs. Not sure if it was saying, "would love to get out of here and join you?" or "Nice....lunch and they delivered!" Hope I don't ever find out! After my run I went to WALMART, my "home away from home" this week and then to the gas station to get chocolate chip cookies before my meeting! Yum, warm and gooey!! I guess that I might get put on the naughty list for that but then can one of Santa's elves really be on the naughty list? |

| Survived the wind and snow today and ended up adding an extra mile by a little trick from mother nature. I thought it was going to clear up and the sun came out just long enough for me to get passed my house and then it was back to wind and snow. But I added the extra mile and am glad that I did! I will be in Lyman tomorrow and now only have to do 2 miles to get to my 30 for the week and chances are that it will be colder than here so I didn't want to have to do much! Happy weekend everyone and stay warm!! | |

| Hit my goal for the week, Yea!!! I went out to do only 2 miles because I had done extra the 2 previous days. Thought it would be to cold to move in Lyman but when I started out it wasn't too bad! The sun was out and I felt pretty good. I still was a little short on time but thought that 2 miles seemed a little short so I just went off a guess and turned around. That's when I realized how COLD it was. I had to run back in a slight breeze and it was so cold. But I was able to thaw next to the fire when I got back and was glad that I met and even exceeded my goal for the week! (I'm gonna need to keep that up after this weekend for sure!!! Think St.George fastrunning blog party to the max times three days with fudge and .....oh ,the list is too painful to repeat. Monday is gonna be painful ! | |

Today has been Monday in more ways than one!! I worked last night and in an attempt to sleep today was up doing kid stuff about every hour and so tired and grumpy now!!! Only had about 20 mins to run today and get ready and back to work so barely got in a minimal run if you can even count that!! To add to my frustration when I did head out to run it was warm and nice! Would have loved to do at least 5-6 because the weather was so nice. I just couldn't squeeze it in. Then when I got to work my neighbor and doctor that I'm working with tonight informed me that he got in to Moab.... he started running today. He put in at the last possible moment on a whim. So I then hurried and checked my e-mail and was hugely disappointed to find that mine and Ted's group didn't get in. That was the cherry on the top of a terrible day! Oh and I actually just started the day technically. I still have 12 hours of my day to go!!! BLAH.... BLAH..... BLAH!!!
Sorry about all the ranting and raving! Now that I've got that out of my system it's time to find a new half and get a new plan. Ideas anyone?????

| Nice run today the temps were up around 40 when I started out, it felt sooo nice! I think we are having the warm before the storm! I actually hope it snows a lot, I like a white Christmas but also have to make a trip to Provo this week and am hoping for dry roads too. Just like someone who wants to have cake and eat it too!!! Towards the end of my run the wind turned cold and I was a little under dressed but I was on the home stretch so it was o.k.! | |

| It was almost hot out today, upper 40's and sunny for half of my run. I decided to add on because I probably won't get much in tomorrow and I didn't get much in on Monday so I'm going to be way behind by the end of the week. The weather was nice and I felt pretty good through most of my run, but now I feel a little worn out, more llike I've been drug through the mud. I'm not sure why other than the first of the week must have taken a toll on my body and it's not caught up on sleep I guess? I feel bad that I stopped short of 8 miles, should have looked before I ran into the driveway because once I do that my body seems to just quit! Hope this nice weather sticks around, it's perfect for running that for sure!! | |

| mini run this morning on the treadmill before heading to Provo for a last minute shopping trip. Maybe not worth the effort, but I felt better about it than doing nothing! Hope that I can get out for a longer run tomorrow if the weather permits. I'm not sure if the storm will catch up with us but I hope that it is still decent enough to get out and make up some of those miles tomorrow! | |

| So I just took my girls to school and shoveled the driveway the best I could, there is a layer of ice under it as is rained before it snowed. After finishing that my fingers are FROZEN....can barely type and that really hampers the effort as I don't do it that efficiently to begin with!!! So I think that I'm doomed to the DREADMILL today and so I'm committing before hand so I'll actually do it! Right now I'll be very pleased with 3 miles. I know that it's not much but crazy day and I just stink with that machine all together!!! I think I'll watch the Grinch and we can LOATH together! I did 2 miles and wrapped and then 1.5 and wrapped!! Two things that had to be done this A.M. Think that the other stuff can be done later so I'm gaining on the holidays and about to realx and enjoy.....almost!!! My mileage for this week stinks, hopefully I can do a long run tomorrow, but I'm just taking it one day at a time so far, trying to get the most fun out of Christmas from here on out now that the kids are out of school, after all that's what this is about, family time together! | |

| Well a big THANKS to Brent, Lybi, Kim, Mik'L and my Husnband for the encouraging runs this week and getting me out there to get in a good long run today!!! I think I might have skipped out on running all together today or done a whimpy 2 miles on the treadmill, but I checked all the blogs and with Brents encouragement and seeing everyone's progress I decided to go for it when my husband offered to drop me off in Monroe as he went to work on a project for me! I was a litttle afraid of the cold but the sun was shining so I figured I would be o.k. and if not my husband would be along to check on me. As soon as I started I knew that it was going to be a great run! The sun was shining and even though cold I felt really good. Not long after starting I saw a bald eagle in a tree, throughout the run several hawks. My husband came along around mile 8 to offer water but I didn't want to stop and it was hard to drink, run and untwist the bottle with gloves so I only got a swallow. But I felt pretty good througout and hope that I'll be good for 3 more in Jan. Still looking at Painter of more of a training run, but if will be fun to get together and run with other people and friends! My ipod said 10.37, roughly the car said 10.00 and the ipod said average pace was 9:42. We didn't go straight through with the car so maybe that is the difference, but I'll go with the 10:00. Looking forward to the day off tomorrow and upcoming week of family and fun!!! Have a Merry Christmas everyone!!! (even with some patheric runs this week, still made my 30 mile goal!!!) | |

| I wasn't sure that I would get out, but glad that I did, it was nice and warm! Poor Mother Nature, she doesn't know if she is coming or going around here. Sat. I was it double and triple layers, today I could have run in a t-shirt and been almost warm! It felt nice, I'll take it when I can get it!!! Hope to stay consistent through the week, but have to work a few days after Christmas, so we'll see how it goes. With the kids home and the work schedule different it's hard to have any routine. Can't believe that Christmas is finally here, Hope you all have a MERRY one!!! | |

| Nice run this morning with my husband. It was so fun to have him along, even though I slow him down, he was a good sport and stuck with me. The fun thing was that he normally only does around 3.5 to 4 miles and so today was his first 7 miler ever!! I think that my slower pace helped it go pretty easy for him though. He says that when he runs on the treadmill that his shoes hurt his toes and I hate the shoes he runs in... not really very good running shoes. I keep telling him that he needs to go buy some new ones, but he told me this morning that when he can run ten miles he will. I'm hoping in the next week or so he'll go shoe shopping!! I'm going to try and get him to do a long run next Sat. with me. He will be out of town this Sat. or I would have him pace me a long this Sat. We both enjoyed our new running clothes today and it was COLD out so I'm so glad that we have them!!! Hope to make up the miles I missed yesterday through out the week and keep the numbers up!!! Hope everyone had the BEST Christmas and enjoys the time with family the rest of the week!! We averaged 9:30 per mile so that was good for me on the route we took today! | |

| Ran in West/South Jordan today, made an unplanned trip to the city with my daughter and so I had to get it in up there. Always intersting for me to run on the city streets... I always forget that the intersections really have cars going in various directions (thus the red and green lights!!) and the drivers are interesting to watch as I go by. Maybe I have this horrible pained look on my face or who knows but they often laugh or make some other odd face or gesture... I always enjoy new scenery, although I run there a few times a year, but I'll put up with the old quiet routine tomorrow quite happpily! | |

| Went out a little later than I should have so I didn't have as much time as I wanted before I had to go to work. It felt pretty cold even with my nice new running clothes. A hour later when I went to work the temp. was around 22, I've ran in much cooler weather this year but there must have been a cold breeze blowing. BRRRR!!! Most of the run felt like I was running in slow motion and felt really slow. Ave. pace 9:44, I'm stuck at this pace and I can't seem to kick it any faster??? UGGGG! | |

| I had so talked myself out of running today and decided to give myself a break this week, and then my husband came home and I had kinda mentioned to him that when I woke up and he got home I wanted to run with him. He ohh so gently drug me out the door....... and an hour and 40 mins later I had ran ten miles! in a nut shell the first 3 miles were hard and my oh so patient husband kindly hung with me. After that things felt better and I ended up adding two miles here and two there and before I knew it I was done! My husband stopped out short but it was a great run for him too. The only problem with these unplanned long runs, is that I think that I could do a little better with a little water or GU to take along. Another problem is that I don't think that I can even buy GU in this town. Thanks to the hubby and all you girls that inspire me to get these runs in!!! | |

I hurried and did a quick run. Legs felt good overall and really wished that I would have had time to do more! When I headed out the wind from the North was FREEZING but when I hit the turn around spot I actually got a little too warm coming home. Then I hurried and got ready to head to work to ring the new year with all the local looneys and drunks! (I bet your all really jealous!!!)
