I should have gone when I got home from work as I met my husband headed out the door!!!! But I went to bed instead. I didn't want to end up on the treadmill like I did Monday night so I headed out this afternoon. It was a LITTLE windy from my window but decided to get it done. First off it was windy and much warmer than I thought. Felt a little distracted by this but the wind changed from a head wind, tailwind, sideways wind, crazywind ect. as I turned on different roads. I thought I was doing o.k. inspite of it. The last mile that I was so looking forward to because it has a section of downhill in it and is always a nice break turned into a disaster. STRAIGHT ON HEADWIND ! I could feel my ponytail sticking straight out in back and knew if someone would have grabbed the back, it would have for sure created a treadmill effect. ( I'm sure that could have been entertaining :) ! ) Most of the time I could not hear my music in my own ears, just and occasional base note. But I did endure, I came to an intersection with a truck, I should have stopped and let him go, but was sure if I did I would have never got going again! Well I did make it home to find my average pace to be 10:00 per mile. no that's no record but I was sure it was much worse.

Last night I survived quite well on no processed sugar and no white flour. This account is more for my own bennefit but I ate a salad from Subway with all the veggies with some meat and cheese and then snacked on dried apples and homemade wheat bread with honey, and homemade bannana bread. I think I may have put a cup of white flour in the bananna bread, but it's now gone and I'm not going to sweat over that. I also went to the health food store before work and picked up some cookies, they are a mint looking oreo things that are made with wheat flour and evaporated cane juice but I haven't opened them yet because they look like they are cheating. I am also thinking about making pizza for dinner. If I make a whole wheat crust and then use tomatoe paste with my own spices and then veggie and cheese toppings, even ham or something that wouldn't be illegal would it? Well I do have to feed the kids and although they can bennefit from this as much as me, but I'm tired from a night shift and a hard run, I don't think I could handle an open REVOLT in the kitchen at dinner! Not to mention that 2 days of intense cleaning met with mom out of the house for one night and I can hardley find the kiitchen counter.... But I would like to say that I did encounter much enticement at work. The kitchen left chocolate brownies with marshmellow on top with M&M's in the middle and this pudding that was chocolate, vanilla whip cream layers with broken Reeses on top. Not to mention the usual chips and other things lurking around! Well I've rambled on long enough off to violin/ piano lessons and then to make pizza.... unless someone tells me it's cheating then I guess were eating oatmeal!!

1 easy mile with Callzee tonight, slight breeze that felt good but no wind! (maybe I should have waited?)

My daughter tasted one of the cookies she said they were yummy! Now I'm even more sceptical?

When an open or secret REVOLT is attempted at our house, the kids do push ups, sit-ups, squats, extra jobs, pay fines, etc. The punishment has to be quick and decisive.

Pizza as you described it, is a fantastic idea. We do that; as you have figured out pizza sauce is loaded with sugar! Your kids might even like it better with tomato sauce. We use the paste and add a bit if water and spices. As for your lunches, anything that goes on bread can be made into a scrumptious salad. Also consider adding beans (kidney, navy etc) to your salads for protein. Dried fruit can jazz up a salad but watch for added sugar on some such as cranberries.

I think I saw in your blog that you are in the health care industry? A nurse? I've heard that the nursing profession is famous for always having cookies, cakes, chips, etc around. Good luck. It isn't easy to be surrounded by it. Try to look at it, admit it looks good, but tell yourself "it is not good fuel."

Thanks for the mopping tips! Good luck with the no sugar and no white flour. I thought the whole wheat pizza sounded great and health. I didn't think about sugar in the sauce. I would have okayed it, even with the sauce.

Oh, yeah. Where did all the wind come from? Did you have a storm? I am glad you weren't blown away.

From Michelle on Wed, Oct 03, 2007 at 23:00:04

Thanks you, it hasn't been to bad yet! I don't know about the wind? Our town usually does have it's fair share, and I think a storm is coming but not untill the weekend. just lucky I guess! (Bonus points for you, for reading that entry. I might want to get a publisher soon and just skip to writting books. :) :)

I'm so proud of you for trying the diet...sounds like you are handling it well. We do whole wheat pizza sometimes but it's a little bit harder than my personal favorite...pizza toast....Let your kids make their own pizzas on a piece of whole wheat bread with tomato sauce and spices already on it.....they may like it better if they can choose their own toppings. Pop it in the oven or in a toaster oven if you have one of those.

OK- You didn't ask my opinion, but I'm w/ Mik'L- stay Sat. for the marathon! hee hee...

From Lybi on Thu, Oct 04, 2007 at 00:57:27

Michelle! Great job, sounds like you are really putting your all into this diet change! Talk about running against the wind...but you will overcome!

OK, you HAVE to stay for the marathon. Sat. morning is the only chance we will have for a run--really early at that.
