Short-Term Running Goals:

keep running, stay fit and healthy, while having fun. Would like to get my mileage up to 25 miles a week and plan some short races when I get confident with my speed.

My husband had to leave for meetings at 6:00 this morning so I got up and ran with him at 4:30! I must have been really desperate for a running partner to get up at that hour!!! But now I'm done till tonight and it's only 6:00 in the morning, I like that feeling a lot! We didn't get to bed untill around 11:30 and I didn't sleep great so I feel a nap coming on later.

I'm starting with a pain in the left arch of my foot, I really don't notice it when I'm running but when I get home about 20 mins later and then mildly through the day. It's not bad but I don't want it to become something that's a problem. Anyone have any knowledge about that?

Tonight Callzee didn't feel to much like running, stuffy nose and keeps getting side aches, but she at least got out!

Goodness! That is soooo early! Hope it was fun. You've been wanting a running partner for a long time--how cool that it can be your husband!

Oh I hope you get that nap!

So you were worried he'd be too fast? Was he? Maybe you can make this a regular thing (well not THAT early)

Lybi and Christi-Ted and I had a really good run this morning. He pushed me but wasn't too fast. He is just starting to run daily so as his fitness increases I'm sure that it might get harder to keep up, but I'll take what I can get. I need to be more ambitious and get up and join him. It's not always that early, but I still sometimes get lazy and would rather sleep a little longer and run later. But when I do get up and run early it always feels so nice and so glad to get done!

Nice job! 4:30! You are right though, at least you have it done and over with.

I bet there are plenty of runners on here that have had arch pain. Is it right in the arch? Cody has had some pain closer to his tarsals that seemed worse after running but okay during. Hope someone can help!

I don't have any good advice for your foot. I worry about you. Your hip and now your foot. Wait! I do know a yoga stretch. Let's see if I can explain it. You kneel down so your bottom rests on your heels. Then you tuck your toes under, but your foot should still be perpendicular to the floor. Finally try to sit back again as far as you can--bottom back to heels. I hope that makes sense. I can't hold it very long.

As for yoga DVDs, I don't know that much about them. The one I have I don't like. If I come across one I do like, you'll be the first to know.

I'm glad (and jealous) that you & Ted had a good run together. Hope Callzee gets over the sniffles fast! I'm interested to see if you get any feedback about your arch pain. I've had cramps in my left arch lately. Not too painful, but annoying. Sometimes I'll stop after a mile or 2 and stretch my foot, that seems to help. The guy at the running store said I have a somewhat flat (or maybe he said collapsed?) arch on my left foot. Anyway- let me know if you figure it out!

Way to put in the miles this week. Instead of a 6 mile run I did a tempo run but if I'm feeling good I may do six later this week. have a good day tomorrow

Yowza! Your symptoms scream Plantar Fasciitis. Ouch! Stretch your feet and calves, but not too much.

Let's talk about your hip. Where exactly does this hip hurt? The foot and the hip pain might be related even if they are on different sides of the body. Give me some more info to chew on. If you don't want to post all the details, send me an email at fastrunninglulu@gmail.com.

5 hours of sleep followed by almost 6 miles of running - I'd say you're due for a GREAT nap!!! How fun to run with your husband. One of these days I'm going to get a babysitter just so I can run with my husband too! Great job!!!!!
