Short-Term Running Goals:

keep running, stay fit and healthy, while having fun. Would like to get my mileage up to 25 miles a week and plan some short races when I get confident with my speed.

Get my mileage back up and run pain free!

Ran my car to Big O to get an alignment and oil change and then left from there. The wind had already started it was coming out of the west and most of my run was north to south so other than annoying it wasn't too bad. Didn't feel particularly energized this morning but maybe it was my afternoon run and evening with Callzee coming off the nightshift thing. But maybe my body is going through sugar withdrawls and punishing mr too. I'm sure it takes a minute to adjust. But once it does if I can catch some speed like Lybi did then that would be great! I won't get my hopes up to much though. So far I think I'm planning to stay the night Friday, so one way or the other I'll do some kinda run on Sat. mornng before the marathon. Anyone in? It might be short due to time but worth a try.

Good job Michelle. Make sure you get enought carbs! It is a little tricky to do without white flour and sugar. I have a big ol' pot of fried rice in the fridge for emergencies.

Yea! I REALLY want the chance to run with you. Let's just make sure we do it early enough that we can still watch the winners come in. I have to get around 4 miles on Sat. to meet my weekly mileage goal, but we can just do 2-3 if we run out of time and I'll pick up a little later in the day.

I hear you on the struggle not to eat sugar or white flour. I am trying not to eat any more than about 20 carbs a day right now just for 1 more week and three days. I am pre diabetic so the only way for me to get away from the strong cravings is to do this and then slowly add them back in.

This is another reason why I am doing alot of cross training right now. I might pas out if I went out and ran on what I am eating right now. Also I have not worked out for about two months and so I am very out of shape. I am one that has to ease into this running thing or I push to hard and hurt myself.

An arce trainer is kind of a cross between a stair stepper and an eliptical no arm pulls and more up and down. You can add resistance to it which is why I like it.

To me it looks like you are doing awsome.

My daughter was born with hydrocepalus. She had a shunt placed when she was three days old and has had problems ever since. In 2005 she spent 7 weeks in the hospital having 13 of those sugeries. Her shunts just clog easy but they did alot of die studies and edt's and relized she acually needed 2 shunts. She now has the magnetic shunts and has had the third ventrical opened. This did not eliminate her shunts but it did creat a path for the second shunt. She also got staff infection in her brain while she was there so it was another sugery to take the infected shnts out and then to put them back in two weeks later. They put in the drain tubes for that time period.

She goes to primary children hospital. It is about 45 minutes from our house.

I know alot of children are effected by this it makes me happy when I hear about the kids that don't have as many replacements.

So how is your child doing overall? What hospital do you go to?

Thanks for the encoragement.

Hey Michelle- I'm thinking now that I will bring Toby (10) and Arielle (7) to the party. I hope Callzee will be there too? Maybe they'll have fun hanging out together... See ya this afternoon!
