So my husband was gone last night and he's not to keen on me running at 5:30 in the moring alone, and for some reason 5:30 seemed easier than 8:00 am, weird I know. It just seems colder around 7:30-8:00 than then, but anyways.... I put it off untill 10:00 waiting for it to warm up a bit more. I think I traded the warmth for the chilling wind! I know I complain of the wind a lot but it is a windy little village here. So I pushed through it, when the wind was at my back once for a short stretch, it felt like I was flying. When it stopped for a time I felt like I was at least 15 ponds lighter. But I fought it up plenty of up hill portions of the run too. Then when I was done I thanked the wind for a nice workout, went home and took a shower and went to lunch with my daughter at my favorite naughty pizza place for cheese sticks and salad and enjoyed every minute of it!!! To top it all of I went shopping after that to Christensen's ( the only department, clothing store in town) and bought a new pair of pants! So far it's been a pretty good day. Now I need to get to work and make goodies for homemaking tonight before the girls come home and it's off to violin and piano lessons.

Well it was a little cold and Callzee didn't want to run outside tonight so we took turns doing half miles on the treadmill. I did 2 halfs each in 4:05 mins. I don't think I could do that on the track, but sometime soon I'm going to try. Well Callzee sweet child of mine has succesfully given me her GOMBU...a.k.a cold! I'm taking vit. c like candy, zicam, and airborn too. I'd like it as short and sweet as possible anyother suggestions?

I don't mind running in bad weather but the wind I hate. It is the worst. I love morning snow storms when no one is out, it is so peaceful and quite. Now the snow mix with wind isn't fun I have ran in plenty of that.

Your husband worries for good reason. My dad left for work at 5:30 a few weeks ago and noticed foot prints around his and my moms car. He looked around and noticed the back gate was open a little bit and there was a man with a bandana around his face and a black hoodie on crouching behind it.

My dad snuck up on him and leaped on him. He beat the crap out of him, he said he eventually had to slam his head into a 2x4 to get the guy to calm down. Then he drug him out frount and slammed him into my moms car and was trying to ask him what the heck he was doing. WHen my dad said he was going to call the police the guy went crazy and ran off.

When the police got there 40 minutes later they said that they had taken so long because at this time in the morning they have so many calls that they can't keep up on them.

The guys bandana fell off as my dad was dragging him up frount and there was chunks of his skin with hair and blood all over it. And the police took one of the 2x4 because it had blood on it. They said they would run it in the system but would probley come up empty.

Anyways the guy had to have been drugged up and who knows what his plan was but my mom was still in the house if he was planning on breaking in. My mom usually goes out at that time as well but that morning she did not for some reason.

My dad did not get hurt just very stiff the next day.

Just be careful.

O they live in Payson.

From Lybi on Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 16:53:22

Yikes! Payson is such a cute sweet little town, too! AH!!! Wow, I certainly hope I never accidently frighten your dad, kt. Sounds like he is very capable at taking people down! Now I'm scared to go running. No wait...I'm more scared that Sasha will say that I am slacking off. This is exactly why we now have a very small but ferocious-sounding doggie.

Oh yeah, and good job Michelle.

I was shocked when I found out. I kind of got choked up a bit (In fear for what could have happened) My dad has been a hard worker his entire life and was a wildland firs fighter for about 20 yrs, he just stopped doing that because of his age two years ago, but I cried everytime he got sent out that last year. Anyways he is solid. But more than solid just determined and hard headed.

Just be safe when you run the police told my mom if she was going out that early to have pepper spray on her. She has little yippy dogs as well and she takes them with her.

I have a huge lab when I have gone in the morning before people cross the street to avoid her. Not to mention I have her trained so I say run and she runs. So if I just hang on she will pull me along. and when my legs can't go any longer I say stop and she stops.

I did not mean to scare you!

From Michelle on Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 17:41:00

Well I guess you convinced me he was right for not wanting me to go! Yikes for sure!!! Our neighbor has a big lab that is always locked in a kennel and I've thought about asking if I could borrow it to run with. I'm sure it would love to get out and could use the exercise, but I'm just not sure if I'm up to getting it trained to run with me, not just wrap me up in it's rope.

From Christi on Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 18:27:13

Michelle- your lunch & shopping sounded delightful (oh yeah and good run too- wink!) It must be all that wind resistance that makes you so fast. I was telling Mik'L this morning that when we ran last Sat. I had the feeling you could've been going faster for sure! As far as the rest of your day- (enrichment, kids' lessons, etc) sounds too much like my days- tiring!

From kt on Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 18:55:49

My neighbor use to run with some ne else's lab.

Labs are not usually hard to train and if you are running it should just run with you. Unless it never gets out on a leash. At first Koda(thats her name) She is a little crazy and I have to choke her a little (She goes with a choke chain on) but after about a quarter of the way she is just jogging along at my pace unless I comand her to run. If she is jogging she will go to full run. She is a better dog when I take her out. There have been a few days that I just unclip her leash and she dose not even relize it or she just chooses to stay by me. She is 4yrs old and I know in labs age makes a diffrence if you neighbors dog is under 2 I would not take it anywhere. I think it is worth a try.

What a scary story kt! I don't like running when it's dark because 1) I can't see. When Sarah and I ran on the Provo River Trail together, she would run on by the river, so I wouldn't fall in. And 2) I scare myself real easily.

Michelle, your day sounds fabulous! It's always fun to get new clothes.

From kt on Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 21:02:19

I really did not mean to scare anyone.

There are some big creeps out there tho.

I would have never in a million years thought that would happen to my parents.

I freak my self out in my own house when it is dark. I totally start seeing things that are not there.

This is why I never go with out my big dog. She looks more like a huge bear.

From Michelle on Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 23:19:25

If you gave us a little dose of extra dose of precation then that's o.k. we all need a little reminder to be safe. I'm just sorry that you parents had to get it that way!

From kt on Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 17:05:28

Well my parent took it as a lesson and installed motion lights all around there house and now my mom is more aware of her surroundings when she is out in the morning.

The police gave them tips on theft prevention so nothing valuable will get taken.

Two people in my moms neighbor hood went in to get a drink while in the middle of mowing there lawn and came back out and the mower was gone. So now they know not to leave anything out.

They didn't get hurt so it's all good!
