Short-Term Running Goals:

keep running, stay fit and healthy, while having fun. Would like to get my mileage up to 25 miles a week and plan some short races when I get confident with my speed.

Today I call this the run of "wills". Will I go, or won't I go? After slowly getting ready ... Yes I will go. Then it was "will I run 4 or will I run 5". You get the picture. Things felt rather hard today. ( Monday is never one of my best runs, and I still feel a little behind from the gomboo that has plagued our house. Mostly on the mend happy to say, things are breaking up in the chest and draining out of the sinuses nicely now. ) So I trudged out the door, things looked sunny and nice, but it was rather cool, but I opted for short sleeves. There were times that I wondered "will my hands freeze off, will I die of heat?" If I was out in the sun with no wind it was feeling rather warm, but if the wind was in my face and my back was to the sun, there were times that I thought feeling to my fingers was gone forever! Well I continued on and decided that I "will" continue on and do 6 miles and was greatful to say that "I did survive"! Now I have hope that I can get done with all the other demands of the day!

Michelle, the "will" to win means nothing without the "will" to train. The days you really don't feel like running can be the most important days to give the more "will". 20 commando points for "willing" yourself out the door. Great effort.

You make me laugh. I definitely don't get MORE miles in than planned on days like these, so way to go.

BTW, no slackin just cuz you are in Hawaii!

Wow Michelle! I am so proud to know someone like you who can push through this kind of run. Your will must be strong to drag you through 6 miles!

awesome run! Wow, you got 20 points. Where are those redeemable Brent? Seriously, awesome job.

You are one strong willed girl- you need to rub some off on me! I was at Walmart today looking for cheap gloves to run in- they're not in stock yet! But- like you- I sure do need them in the chilly mornings! So- you gonna get in some beach runs in Hawaii?

Hahaha. I hate those kind of days where everything you do has to be an internal debate!! So aggravating. You won, though - 6 miles and you survived to tell about it. :o)

Thanks for noticing my race on Saturday. I had fun, even if my finish time was twice as long as many on this blog (hee, hee). We all have to start somewhere!

You guys are too nice!!! But thanks, it's a new day and I WILL get out there again! I didn't expect to have to go in to work last night till 1:00 a.m. so I'm running behind, and have sooooo much to do, I also talked to the podiatrist at work last night who looked at my foot....Yep, that your planter that's bothering you he told me! He told me to stay on ibuprofen 24/7 for a week or two, and take it easy. I figure that while we are in Hawaii that my runs may suffer a bit so that will be taking it easy. If not bette,r then he said come and see him. He didn't seem too concerned so I'm just going to wait and see too!

Wow, have fun in Hawaii. One comment about the planter, a medical boot worked best for me to sleep in. I know it would be hard to take a boot with you, but, something to hold the foot in place while you sleep really made a difference for me. We stayed at the Hale Koa.
