Did a half a few years ago, unsure of my time but nothing to write home about. I trained about 6 months and then took about 2yrs. off. Started running again this year but have never done anything serious.

Short-Term Running Goals:

keep running, stay fit and healthy, while having fun. Would like to get my mileage up to 25 miles a week and plan some short races when I get confident with my speed.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Get my mileage back up and run pain free!

thought I would run down to the track to calibrate my nike-ipod that I finally got ( 1 mile to track). Ran one mile I had't done something right. Did another mile and had another technical error. Ran the third mile, succesful! Ran the mile home, which according to the nike-ipod was only .91 miles. My husband disagree's so I'm counting my mileage as 5 miles. I was only going to do one down do one there and then back so I got a couple of bonus miles and it felt great. Maybe it was the track, or the cool evening we were having but I am glad for the extra. Tomorrow better go back to the track and make sure that my ipod is calculating correctly.

Great job! Sounds like you were pretty perky after 5 miles. 5 still wipes me out.

I'm guessing your Ipod will be filled with a bunch of-

Wham, Men at Work, Billy Idol, George Michael, and other 80's stuff. That's ok I like 80's music just don't let Ted talk you into putting country on it. Running to country music is a bad choice even if you live in Richfield. It makes those bad run's- really bad!

Good work today, this kinds of training will get you ready for longer races. You can get pretty accurate distance for your course using the Course Tool in the blog.

Clyde - country music can make a great song for a race. How about this when somebody tries to drop you: "And I swear, like a shadow that's by your side I'll be there. For better or worse, till kick do us part, I'll hang on with every beat of my heart..."

Oh man Sasha please don't bust out your country music songs. That song would put me to sleep and I would get dropped by anyone.

You guys are so funny! During my last race I ran significantly faster to "Everybody Dance Now" or whatever it's real name is. A country song with a great running tempo is "Prayin' for Daylight" Rascal Flats. "Eye of the Tiger" is good for running, too.

I get a fiendish delight imagining Sasha singing country songs with a Russian accent.
