keep running, stay fit and healthy, while having fun. Would like to get my mileage up to 25 miles a week and plan some short races when I get confident with my speed.

Headed out as soon as the kids got off to school this morning. A little overcast and humid out but the temps. were good and it felt nice. I thought out a new route last night before bed because I wanted something different today, but wasn't sure on the distance so I just went with it and hoped I would get in a nice run for the start of the week. Knowing that I have to work tonight and tomorrow night and my runs are usually short for those days. The new route seemed to be a good one and I felt really good. It wasn't untill about a mile in I realized that I didn't have any hip pain!!!! (Yeaaa) Around mile 5 I did start to feel it creep back into my run and by mile 6 it was back again. Mile 7 feeling a little tired and ready to be done. But really felt good the whole time all things considered and glad to get the week off to a good start!

Started to run home after work this morning and about half way there, I realized that I didn't have anyone to get me back to my car untill around five today. So I decided to mix it up and wander the streets and then head back up to the hospital and just drive home. My calves were a little so from the two previous runs this weekk, but other than that felt pretty good inspite of being up all night! Even pushed myself towards the end. After sleeping for a few hours today when I got up calves still very sore. Can't figure out why they are always the only muscle to get sore, and why they do so often. I would think that with the regular use they get this wouldn't happen so often?

last night before going to bed I did some leg exercises...squats, lunges ect. Today when I got up I wasn't particularly sore, but when I went out to run, I was stiff. Legs just felt heavy and didn't feel like they would go where my brain was telling them to go. wanted to do a longer run, but just didn't have it in me. So I'm hoping to have all the stiffness worked out today and get a longer run in tomorrow. I'm sure doing some strenght training for the legs would help with endurance and possibley speed, but right now I'm wondering where the balance should be as to not decrease my miles weekly due to soreness?

Six hard miles today. Maybe it was the heat (just felt hot today) maybe it was the sore muscles, maybe I'm just tired. There was only one mile, around four that felt pretty good. The route that I did today is always mentally tough for me but today it was physically too. I had told my self at the end of mile five at the top of a small hill that I could walk. But by the time I got there I talked myself out of it again because I knew that I would be mad at myself all day for that one. Pushed through, and actually lived to tell about it!!! Well.... the weekend is here, everyone have a good one! :)

I was only half comitted to running this a.m. Set the alarm and if I felt good decided I'd go. My husband and two youngest girls left for the weekend last night. I am going to catch up to them today. So I got to bed quite late (teenage daughter at home) at 6:00 a.m. middle childs alarm clock goes off loudly...arggg! go shut it off ( I think) back to bed. Ten minutes later daughters alarm goes off again, go push lots of buttons and hope for the best, go back to bed. Lay down and decided to check other daughters alarm clock, doesn't appear to be set, go back to bed. Just fall to sleep, my alarm goes off....decide I am too tired turn it off (I know how to run my own alarm) try to go to sleep. Just start to doze again youngest daughters alarm goes of, not terribly loud, cover my head with pillow, after a few minutes of that, decide that I'm suffocating and can't breath, I could be doing the same thing and getting some exercise at the same time... give in and go running!!!! Happy long weekkend!!!!!
